Shape Services. Develop Expertise. Make a Difference.
Somerset Educational Psychology Service is recruiting Educational Psychologists who want opportunities to influence practice, develop specialist interests and contribute to services that improve outcomes for children, young people and families.
Whether you're an experienced EP, newly qualified, or approaching qualification, Somerset offers the opportunity to build specialist expertise whilst working within one of the largest Educational Psychology communities in the South West.
About the Role
You'll contribute to:
- Early intervention and preventative work
- Traded services with schools
- Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments
- Mental Health Support Teams and inclusion initiatives
- Neurodevelopmental pathway development
- Multi-agency partnership working
- Project work and service development
- Critical incident support
At Somerset, we offer opportunities to do more.
Alongside consultation and statutory work, our Educational Psychologists contribute to multi-agency locality working, mental health initiatives, neurodevelopmental pathways, inclusion projects, critical incident response, early intervention and county-wide service development.
We believe Educational Psychologists should have opportunities to shape services, influence practice, develop specialist expertise and build meaningful partnerships with schools, families and wider professionals, not simply deliver statutory responsibilities.
Alongside statutory responsibilities, you'll work collaboratively with school communities to promote inclusion, strengthen practice, develop staff confidence and create positive outcomes for children and young people. You'll be encouraged to shape services, influence practice and develop specialist interests that make a lasting difference. In Somerset, Educational Psychologists play a key role in the developing Experts at Hand model, using psychological expertise alongside partner professionals to build capacity and support needs earlier within mainstream settings.
We'd welcome applications from:
- Qualified Educational Psychologists
- Third Year Trainee Educational Psychologists qualifying in Summer 2026/27
- Second Year Trainee Educational Psychologists interested in future opportunities from September 2027 (subject to vacancies)
Recruitment Process
Applications will be reviewed throughout the advertising period, and interviews may be arranged before the closing date for suitable candidates.
We are also building a talent pipeline for future opportunities and welcome conversations with candidates considering a move now or in the future.
