Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering Graduate Programme
Important Nationwide Location Requirement
This is a nationwide rotational programme, not a position based permanently at one location.
You will complete two 12-month placements, which may be based in entirely different parts of the UK. For example, your first placement could be at Dounreay in the north of Scotland and your second at Dungeness in Kent.
Applicants must be genuinely willing and able to travel and relocate anywhere in England, Scotland or Wales. Relocation support will be available where required.
Please only apply if you are comfortable making this level of geographical commitment throughout the programme.
The Opportunity
Join a leading organisation within the UK nuclear sector and contribute to some of the country’s most complex and nationally important engineering challenges.
During this two-year graduate programme, you will complete two 12-month placements across different organisations, engineering teams and UK locations. You will gain practical experience while helping to support the safe, secure and sustainable management of the UK’s nuclear legacy.
Alongside your placements, you will participate in a structured graduate development programme designed to strengthen your technical knowledge, professional skills and long-term career prospects.
You will learn from experienced engineers, build a valuable professional network and gain broad exposure to engineering within highly regulated, safety-critical environments.
The Role
As an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineering Graduate, you will help support the electrical systems, control technologies and instrumentation used across complex nuclear facilities.
These systems are essential for monitoring performance, controlling plant operations, managing risk and maintaining safe working conditions.
Working alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists, you may contribute to:
You will develop an understanding of how engineering decisions are made within highly regulated and safety-critical environments.
Your placements could include exposure to operational facilities, major engineering projects and nuclear decommissioning activities. You will learn how EC&I engineers work alongside mechanical, civil, process, safety and operational teams to develop effective engineering solutions.
About You
This programme would suit someone who is curious about how complex systems operate, enjoys analysing technical problems and is motivated by finding safe and practical engineering solutions.
