Trueline, a long-established American manufacturer of pipe, flow control, and fire protection products, is seeking an Electrical Engineer - Facilities and Power Distribution to own the electrical infrastructure at their 650,000-square-foot manufacturing campus in Columbia, PA. You’ll be the go-to expert for high- and medium-voltage power, from the plant’s own substation through its distribution network, during a period of major upgrades and growth. The role pays a base salary of $100,000-$130,000 plus an annual bonus.
The site includes a foundry and a machine shop, runs around the clock, and is growing: headcount is heading from about 850 toward 1,000, and output is rising. The right person is a hands-on engineer who’s as comfortable in the field as at a desk, and who wants to make a lasting mark on a critical piece of American manufacturing infrastructure.
What You’ll Do as the Electrical Engineer:
- Own the plant’s high- and medium-voltage electrical infrastructure, including the site-owned substation, internal unit substations, switchgear, and transformers
- Document the complete distribution network, from incoming utility power through the unit substations and 480V distribution down to individual panels, building accurate one-line diagrams and asset records where none exist today
- Develop specifications, scopes of work, and bid packages for electrical infrastructure and upgrade projects
- Review, inspect, and approve vendor designs and electrical plans for compliance with company standards
- Perform field investigations to gather data, verify installations, identify tie-ins, and support construction and commissioning
- Coordinate and direct electrical contractors, inspect completed work, and hold installations to specification
- Determine power loads and energy requirements for new equipment and facility upgrades
- Develop and manage project schedules, milestones, and budgets
- Partner with the utility provider and outside stakeholders on service upgrades, outages, and infrastructure projects
- Build and improve NFPA 70B-aligned preventive maintenance programs for substations, transformers, switchgear, and distribution equipment
- Lead electrical planning for annual shutdowns and major outages to minimize disruption to a 24/7 operation
- Support electrical safety, equipment criticality assessments, and long-term reliability planning
- Work with modern controls and power monitoring systems tied to distribution
- Support Purchasing with bidder lists and bid reviews
- Respond to electrical issues around the clock as needed in a continuous operation
Must-Haves as the Electrical Engineer:
- 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, power distribution, facilities engineering, utilities, or heavy industrial environments
- Experience with industrial medium-voltage distribution, including substations, switchgear, transformers, and protective relays
- Strong working knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, and NFPA 70B
- Experience creating and maintaining one-line diagrams and electrical asset records
- Proven hands-on field experience troubleshooting, verifying installations, and supporting commissioning and outages
- Experience managing contractors, bids, schedules, and budgets
- Comfort working in a heavy industrial environment, including a foundry with heat, noise, molten metal, and heavy forklift traffic
- Willingness to respond to electrical issues outside normal hours in a 24/7 facility
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field, or equivalent industrial power distribution experience
Nice-to-Haves as the Electrical Engineer:
- Experience in a foundry, metals, steel, mining, chemical, power generation, or other heavy industrial plant
- A utility, transmission, or substation engineering background with field and construction exposure
- Experience supporting large distribution networks with multiple substations
- Experience working directly with utilities on service upgrades and outages
- Experience implementing NFPA 70B maintenance and asset management programs
- Working knowledge of PLCs, drives, and power monitoring systems
- Experience planning shutdowns in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
We Offer:
- Base salary of $100,000-$130,000, with flexibility for an exceptional candidate
- Annual bonus opportunity
- A competitive relocation package
- Multiple medical plan options, including PPO and high-deductible plans, with prescription, dental, and vision coverage starting after 30 days
- 24/7 virtual care through Teladoc, dedicated healthcare advocacy, and a wellness program that can lower your healthcare costs
- 401(k) through Fidelity with a 4% company match, plus additional annual company retirement contributions for eligible employees
- A Health Savings Account with company contributions for eligible participants, plus healthcare, limited purpose, and dependent care FSAs
- Company-paid basic life and AD&D, short-term disability, and long-term disability, with buy-up options
- Voluntary life, accident, and critical illness insurance
- Vacation typically starting at three weeks, increasing with tenure, plus an additional PTO bank for eligible employees
- Bereavement, jury duty, military, and family and medical leave support
- Financial planning resources, fitness reimbursement, discounted gym memberships, and voluntary pet, home, and auto insurance programs
- Ownership of the electrical infrastructure at a major manufacturing campus with a site-owned substation and about 20 MW of load
- A pipeline of upgrade projects and real impact on safety, reliability, and long-term planning
- A growing operation with more production and more people every year
- The stability of a manufacturer with more than 175 years of American industrial heritage
