Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Harness Designer – Level 3 or Level 4 to join our team in Dulles, VA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

The Vehicle Engineering team is seeking an experienced Harness Designer to perform detailed Spacecraft Harness Design, including creation of wire harness drawings and schematics, documentation of cable harnesses, and harness 3-D modeling and space claims.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

In this job, you will:

• Support Development of total harness modeling product to include: Harness 3-D modeling and space claims, overall spacecraft routing and integration concept, wire harness drawings and schematic creation and associated documentation of cable harnesses
• Ensure models and drawings meet all department standards and customer requirements
• Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total harness subsystem solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
• Support technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and supportability and effectiveness analysis for total harness spacecraft design

Basic Qualifications for Level 3:

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 1 year of professional experience. Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.

• Experience in developing and maintaining requirements and technical documentation
• Able to prioritize, execute and delegate tasks in a high-pressure, dynamic environment
• Must have strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
• Able to prioritize, execute and delegate tasks in a high-pressure, dynamic environment

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 8 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 6 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 4 years of professional experience. Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.

• Experience in developing and maintaining requirements and technical documentation
• Able to prioritize, execute and delegate tasks in a high-pressure, dynamic environment
• Must have strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
• Able to prioritize, execute and delegate tasks in a high-pressure, dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the design and documentation of cable harnesses
• Familiar with Harness Related Mil Specs and NASA specs
• Experience designing/routing harness cables using Creo Schematic and Creo Parametric

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
