Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Electrical Superintendent will provide operational and technical leadership across hydro power generation and the HV transmission and distribution network, with responsibility for electrical maintenance, system reliability, asset performance and safety.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Leading electrical maintenance and reliability across multiple hydroelectric power stations and associated HV infrastructure
- Managing and developing electrical engineering, maintenance and technical teams
- Overseeing HV substations, transformers, switchgear and transmission and distribution networks
- Managing protection systems, relays, circuit breakers and electrical network integrity
- Developing preventative and predictive maintenance strategies
- Leading fault finding, root cause analysis and power system investigations
- Planning and coordinating shutdowns, outages and major maintenance programs
- Managing capital projects, electrical upgrades and network improvements
- Overseeing protection coordination, testing and commissioning activities
- Managing contractors and specialist service providers
- Driving continuous improvement in electrical reliability and asset performance
- Ensuring compliance with electrical, safety and environmental standards
- Working closely with operations to maximise generation availability and network reliability
- Degree or relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, OR trade qualification + relevant experience
- Significant experience in HV transmission and distribution, power generation, utilities, mining or heavy industrial environments
- Previous experience in an Electrical Superintendent, Electrical Manager, Maintenance Superintendent or senior electrical leadership role
- Strong knowledge of HV substations, transformers, switchgear, protection relays and electrical distribution systems
- Experience with power system protection, network reliability and electrical asset management
- Demonstrated experience leading electrical maintenance and technical teams
- Strong troubleshooting, fault-finding and continuous improvement capability
- Experience managing shutdowns, electrical projects, contractors and capital works
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Hydro generation experience is advantageous, but strong transmission and distribution experience is the priority
- Previous remote, regional or expatriate experience will be highly regarded
