Engineer, New Grad — Spectral Labs 📍 San Francisco, CA | On-site, 5 days/week 💰 $150K–$220K base + bonus + equity | ~$300K TC 🎓 0–2 years of experience 🛂 H-1B, O-1 & TN sponsorship available 👥 Hiring 2 Build AI that understands engineering.
Spectral Labs is building foundation models for 3D CAD and engineering design. Today's AI models are powerful with language, but they fundamentally lack spatial understanding. Spectral Labs is training models that can generate structured, editable 3D CAD and reason about physical systems.
Their first product, SGS-1, became the first generative model for structured 3D parametric CAD and has reached 100K+ users.
Now they're building SGS-2 — with the ambition of creating the first AI capable of doing the work of a licensed mechanical engineer. 🔥 What you'll work on As a New Grad Engineer, you'll join a 12-person, highly technical team and work as a generalist across:
- Geometry and data pipelines — parse CAD, convert formats, extract features, and verify outputs
- Evaluation harnesses — build tooling to measure whether models are actually improving
- Training infrastructure — instrument experiments, debug failures, and analyze results
- Internal tools — eliminate friction across research and engineering workflows
- Research and engineering projects — start with well-scoped problems and grow your ownership over time
🧠 What we're looking for We're hiring for raw ability. You don't need to have a specialty yet. Required:
- 0–2 years of experience, including internships and research
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field
- Strong Python and/or C/C++ skills
- Experience with ML training, data pipelines, or internal tooling
- Strong problem-solving ability and willingness to work as a generalist
- Exceptional internship or research experience at a high-bar company or research lab
Bonus:
- CAD or computational geometry
- Robotics
- Computer vision / perception
- Graphics or game development
- PyTorch / CUDA
- Linux
No CAD or manufacturing background is required. 🏆 Why Spectral Labs? 🤖 Work on something genuinely new Build foundation models for 3D geometry, parametric CAD, and spatial intelligence — a problem space existing LLMs struggle to address. 🎓 Start broad, then specialize Explore ML, geometry, graphics, data, evaluation, and tooling.
Find where you're strongest and go deep. ⚡ Elite, high-density team Work alongside people from Meta, Autodesk Research, Stanford, MIT, Samsung Research, and CMU. 💰 Top-of-market new grad compensation $150K–$220K base + bonus + competitive equity, with total compensation around $300K. 🚀 Real ownership from day one On a 12-person team, your work goes directly to the founders and has an immediate impact.
