​Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is seeking a Systems Engineer or Principal Systems Engineer to join the IBCS Team supporting the development of mission-critical defense systems. This role bridges systems engineering, embedded software, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to define, develop, integrate, and verify embedded computing platforms that enable net-generation capabilities. The successful candidate(s) will collaborate across software, hardware, cybersecurity, specialty engineering, and program leadership to develop digital engineering solutions and ensure robust system performance throughout the system lifecycle.

This requisition may be filled based on qualifications as a level 2 or 3.

Basic Qualifications for a level 2:

  • Experience developing and maintaining system architectures, requirements, interfaces, and traceability
  • Engineer Systems (Level 2): 2 years with Bachelors in Science; 0 Years with Masters;
  • Familiarity with SysML or another system modeling language.
  • Experience using Cameo Systems Modeler
  • Ability to develop functional, logical and/or physical systems models
  • Experience with requirements analysis, decomposition, allocation, verification and validation.
  • Ability to analyze system-level impacts or requirements, architecture or design changes.
  • Understanding of requirements management and configuration/change management
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Active Secret Security Clearance to Start

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Jira/Agile development environments
  • Experience developing architecture and interface definitions
  • Experience supporting customer requirements, system specifications, design reviews, and technical baseline development

Basic Qualifications for a level 3:

  • Demonstrated experience applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to complex systems
  • Principal Engineer Systems (Level 3): 5 years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with master’s or 1 years PHD
  • Strong working knowledge of SysML and system modeling practices
  • Experience developing and maintaining system architectures, functional/logical/physical models, interfaces and system behavior models.
  • Demonstrated experience with requirements analysis, decomposition, allocation, traceability, verification and validation.
  • Ability to perform system-level trade studies, architecture assessments and change-impact analyses.
  • Experience supporting technical reviews, design reviews, requirement reviews, and customer technical engagements
  • Ability to translate customer and stakeholder needs into technical requirements and system architecture
  • Active Secret Security Clearance to Start.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Digital Engineering experience.
  • Embedded Linux or Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) knowledge.
  • Software development experience using C++, Python, or Java.
  • Experience with Git, GitLab, Jenkins, or CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of software safety, reliability engineering, or specialty engineering disciplines.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense weapon systems or mission systems.
  • Experience with infrastructure frameworks supporting embedded software development.

Primary Level Salary Range: $87,600.00 - $131,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
