Engineering Manager

I’m currently supporting the search for an experienced Engineering Manager – Robotics Systems to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team developing and deploying production-grade robotic systems in Japan.

This is a particularly interesting opportunity for an engineering leader who wants to remain technically close to robotics, hardware-software integration and real-world system deployment, while leading and developing a strong engineering team.

Primary Responsibilities:

• You will take ownership of the delivery of complex robotics software and integrated systems from development and validation through release and deployment.
• Leading a multidisciplinary team across robotics software, systems engineering, hardware integration, testing and infrastructure.
• Translating product strategy into clear technical roadmaps, priorities and execution plans
• Managing engineering schedules, dependencies, technical risks and delivery milestones.
• Driving hardware/software integration, system-level testing and validation of complete robotic solutions.
• Improving hardware testing, integration testing, automated validation, CI/CD and release processes.
• Ensuring robotic systems meet demanding standards for performance, reliability, safety and operational readiness.
• Working closely with Product, Engineering and Leadership stakeholders on architectural decisions and technical trade-offs.
• Mentoring engineers, developing technical leaders and building a healthy, high-performing engineering organization

You do not need to come from one specific robotics industry. We are interested in engineering leaders who have successfully taken complex software, hardware or robotic systems from development into real-world production environments.

Primary requirements:

• Proven experience leading engineering teams responsible for complex software, robotics or autonomous systems.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams across the software development lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of systems integration and hardware/software validation.
• Strong stakeholder-management and technical decision-making capability
• Native-level Japanese proficiency is mandatory for this position and business level English communication skills.
