Job Summary: The Engineering Schematics Automation Specialist supports the administration, configuration, integration, and continuous improvement of Hexagon 2D schematic design applications used for intelligent P&IDs, electrical schematics, instrumentation deliverables, and related engineering data workflows. The role provides technical ownership for application configuration, user support, reference data, integrations, data quality, and controlled data exchange with SPF/SDx and downstream systems. Major Responsibilities: Administer and configure Hexagon 2D schematic applications, including users, roles, permissions, plant structures, reference data, symbols, templates, item types, properties, and validation rules. Provide end-user support, troubleshooting, training, and documentation for schematic production teams. Support data publishing, retrieval, mapping, reconciliation, and issue resolution between schematic applications and SPF/SDx. Develop and maintain validation checks, quality reports, scripts, macros, loaders, extracts, and reconciliation tools to improve data quality and reduce manual effort. Coordinate patches, upgrades, regression testing, license usage, backups, vendor support, and production stability activities. Define, monitor, and enforce schematic data quality rules using audits, exception reports, and corrective action tracking. Apply change control, testing, documentation, and rollback planning for configuration, schema, reference data, and interface changes. Collaborate with engineering, IT, database, cybersecurity, project, and vendor teams to align tool configuration with project delivery requirements. Communicate status, risks, priorities, and improvement outcomes to engineering automation leadership and project stakeholders. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience [OR] 12-14 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree. Required Knowledge and Skills: Minimum Qualifications Experience with Hexagon 2D schematic applications in an engineering, EPC, or owner-operator environment. Experience administering/configuring schematic applications, including reference data, symbols, templates, item types, properties, and validation rules. Understanding of P&ID or schematic production workflows and intelligent engineering data practices. Experience troubleshooting application, database, and integration issues, including practical SQL query skills. Working knowledge of SPF/SDx integration concepts, publishing, retrieval, correlation, and data mapping. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with broader Hexagon engineering tools, including 3D design, instrumentation, electrical, or asset information management applications. Scripting or development experience using VBA, VB.NET, C#, Python, PowerShell, or similar tools. Experience with reporting, analytics, data extraction, bulk loading, and reconciliation workflows. Familiarity with CFIHOS, ISO 15926, digital twin requirements, or formal information handover standards. Hexagon product certification, vendor training, or equivalent demonstrated product expertise. Experience in structured project delivery environments with formal change control and quality assurance.
