About The Opportunity
An exciting targeted opportunity is available for an experienced Enrolled Nurse to join the Operating Theatres team at Maitland Hospital.
Maitland Hospital Operating Theatres is part of the Lower Hunter Sector of Hunter New England Local Health District and provides a broad range of surgical services to a growing community. Our operating theatres include six fully equipped theatres and a dedicated Endoscopy theatre, supporting a diverse range of specialties including General Surgery, Endoscopy, ENT, Paediatrics, Urology, Gynaecology, Obstetrics, and elective and trauma Orthopaedics. The department operates 7 days a week, with 24-hour emergency theatre access, providing a dynamic and varied perioperative environment. This is a targeted recruitment opportunity for an Enrolled Nurse with demonstrated perioperative experience, with opportunities available across Anaesthetics and Scrub/Scout.
This opportunity is full-time however job share / part-time will be considered
What You Will Be Doing
Reporting directly to the Nurse Unit Manager of Operating Theatres, you will work as part of a skilled and collaborative perioperative team, practising within the scope of practice of an Enrolled Nurse.
Anaesthetics
Previous Anaesthetic Nursing Experience Is Essential.
You will support the safe and effective delivery of perioperative care within the anaesthetic environment, working collaboratively with Registered Nurses and the broader multidisciplinary team.
Scrub/Scout
Previous Scrub/Scout experience is essential, with a strong focus on Orthopaedics.
You will contribute to safe, efficient surgical procedures by providing high-quality scrub/scout support across a range of elective and trauma orthopaedic procedures, as well as other surgical specialties.
Across Both Areas, You Will
We are looking for an experienced Enrolled Nurse who is confident working in a busy perioperative environment and is ready to contribute their skills to a supportive and experienced team.

- Work collaboratively with Registered Nurses, medical staff and the multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain high standards of infection prevention, safety and clinical practice.
- Communicate effectively and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow relevant policies and procedures.
- Participate in education, competency development and continuous improvement activities.

You Will Have
- Current registration as an Enrolled Nurse with AHPRA.
- Demonstrated experience in either Anaesthetic nursing or Scrub/Scout.
- Strong clinical knowledge and the ability to practise safely within your scope of practice.
- For Scrub/Scout positions, experience in Orthopaedics is highly relevant to this targeted opportunity.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to safe, high-quality patient care.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and respond to changing priorities.
