Equity Index Options Trader – Indian Markets

The opportunity

A leading global multi-strategy investment firm is seeking an Indian Options Trader to become the senior trading partner and number two to an established Portfolio Manager in Singapore.

The hire will play a central role in helping manage the existing portfolio and expanding the strategy into other Asian markets. This is a hands-on risk-taking position for someone capable of overseeing the book independently when the Portfolio Manager is unavailable, with meaningful scope to grow into a broader leadership role.

Key responsibilities

• Trade and help manage an India-focused index-options portfolio, with accountability for execution, hedging and intraday risk.
• Act as a trusted number two to the Portfolio Manager and take responsibility for the book when required.
• Identify and evaluate opportunities to extend the strategy into additional Asian index and options markets.
• Contribute to strategy research, trade structuring, portfolio construction and post-trade analysis.
• Monitor volatility, skew, term structure, liquidity, positioning and event risk across the portfolio.
• Work closely with researchers and developers to improve analytics, signals, execution and risk tooling.
• Help establish robust operating processes as the team and regional footprint expand.

Candidate profile

• Substantial professional experience trading Indian index options, ideally with direct risk ownership.
• Strong understanding of Indian market structure, expiry dynamics, volatility, skew, liquidity and event risk.
• Ability to manage a live options portfolio independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Strong derivatives mathematics and practical knowledge of Greeks, hedging and scenario analysis.
• Commercial judgement, intellectual honesty and disciplined risk management.
• A collaborative approach and the maturity to operate as the Portfolio Manager's trusted deputy.
• Willingness to be based in Singapore.

Preferred experience

• Experience extending an India strategy into other Asian options markets.
• A background at a hedge fund, proprietary trading firm, market maker or leading bank derivatives desk.
• Experience partnering with quantitative researchers and developers.
• Evidence of mentoring junior traders or contributing to team development.
