Manages the operation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of company electrical equipment including power generation, power distribution, and ancillary systems. Identifies and implements reliability, integrity, efficiency, and workforce safety improvements.

Performs routine tasks independently. General supervision of non-routine work. Has basic knowledge of Chevron policies and practices

The Chevron Gulf of America (GOA) Business Unit's Deepwater Operations is accepting online applications for the position of Experienced Maintenance Technician rotating out of Galliano, LA through November 1st, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).


This position will assume the responsibility of safely monitoring, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing offshore production rotating equipment. A key aspect will be ensuring that all rotating equipment is operating at peak reliability and efficiency by reviewing trends to determine optimal performance.

The successful candidate(s) will work on a multi-skilled offshore operations team filling roles in basic producing operations on GOA deepwater facilities. Members of the offshore operations team will work on a 14 & 14 rotational schedule and will be expected to work both day shift and night shift during a 14-day rotation. The assignments could be on any Gulf of America deepwater production facility operated by Chevron.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Actively support Health, Environment, and Safety processes by accomplishing daily activities within applicable regulations and policies, carrying out duties in an environmentally conscious manner, following safe operating practices, maintaining a safe working environment, and being prepared to respond to an environmental or safety event.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain and diagnose work on a wide array of mechanical equipment associated with offshore oil and gas producing operations; including but not limited to: Natural Gas Engines, Reciprocating Compressors, Centrifugal Compressors, Centrifugal Pumps, Positive Displacement Pumps, Diesel engines, Generators, GE / Solar Turbines, Cranes
  • Gather, prioritize, and assist with the scheduling of mechanical maintenance projects.
  • Drives use of sound Reliability Engineering concepts and principles.
  • Utilization of SAP to create work orders for inventory and work planning/prioritization.
  • Perform normal crane and/or rigging operations
  • Partner with other employees and contractors to ensure that all equipment is operating at peak efficiency.
  • Assure all work performed adheres to Chevron's Operational Excellence standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years recent (no more than two years absence) Mechanic experience in the petroleum and/or chemical industry.
  • Ability and willingness to work a 14 & 14 offshore rotational schedule, 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to successfully complete a post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination
  • Broad knowledge of mechanical equipment (e.g. natural gas reciprocating engines and compressors, centrifugal compressors, turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating pumps, generators, diesel engines, cranes, etc.) used in petroleum and/or chemical processing.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse team of coworkers, contractors, and internal and external customers.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Associate or bachelor's degree with a GPA of 2.5 or higher in Mechanical/Maintenance Technology, Petroleum Services, Industrial Technology, Process Plant Technology, Process Operating Technology, Process Operations Technology, Process Technology, Process Production Technology or related degree, or Military rank of E4 or higher with Military Occupational Specialty in mechanical maintenance or related disciplines.
  • Five plus year's recent (no more than two-year absence) Mechanic experience in the petroleum and/or chemical industry.
  • USCG licensing considered a plus
  • Experience working at Chevron-operated GOA deepwater facility


Relocation Options:
Relocation will not be considered.

International Considerations:
Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
