Experienced Veterinary Surgeon |English Riviera (Torquay)Salary: £40,000 – £65,000 DOE |

Hours: Full-Time (Work-Life Balance Focused)

Ready to advance your veterinary career by the coast? Join a supportive, well-equipped practice in vibrant South Devon offering competitive pay, structured progression, and true work-life balance.

About Us

Quarry House Vets is a local independent small animal veterinary practice. Our main surgery is in Torquay with our smaller clinics in Newton Abbot & Teignmouth. We are RCVS accredited and an approved veterinary nurse training centre. We are a RWAF Silver Rabbit Friendly Clinic and an accredited ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic.

We undertake a wide range of surgical procedures including BOAS, dentals and have the latest in-house laboratory equipment. You can find out more about our services here.

The Role

This is a challenging, yet very rewarding role where you will carry out consultations, work up cases, perform general surgery, and handle basic imaging. You will also visit our animal charity partner to undertake veterinary duties there.

You will be working closely alongside a talented and dedicated group of professionals who value colleague collaboration, team and individual learning development, and exceptional patient care. This is the perfect opportunity to join an experienced, fun, friendly, and supportive team.

Consultation appointments are taken at all 3 of our clinics; these duties are shared between our vets. Appointments are prearranged; with the exception of emergencies. Operations are undertaken at our Torquay surgery only.

What We offer
  • Interesting and diverse caseload with some exotic patients
  • Career development encouraged
  • A good work life balance
  • Monday – Friday, Saturday mornings via a shared rota
  • No OOH work after 7pm; weekend and bank holiday duties are shared with another vet practice
  • 5 weeks annual leave
  • Birthday leave
  • RCVS fees and VDS cover paid
  • Generous CPD allowance and self-education support
  • 6-monthly development reviews to help you achieve your goals
  • Discounted veterinary fees
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Free on-site parking
  • Employee Assistance Program with Wisdom Wellbeing
About You

You must have an RCVS accredited veterinary degree or have passed the RCVS exam, be RCVS registered and have an up-to-date record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). You must have at least 2 years of clinical experience in a veterinary practice.

Our ideal candidate will be:

  • Driven Clinician: A passionate team player who excels in a collaborative setting and shares our commitment to exceptional clinical standards. To thrive in this position, you must be a proactive clinician who is completely confident with sole charge, yet keen to learn and develop new skills with a supportive, highly experienced team.

  • An Expert Communicator: Capable of active, careful listening and clear, confident communication across the board—including clients, colleagues, and other veterinary professionals.

  • Balanced & Professional: An enthusiastic, organised, and patient individual. You bring a confident yet empathetic approach to your work, are thoroughly trustworthy, and know how to maintain firm professional boundaries.

Flexibility and reliability are key components of this post as well as having a vehicle/full UK driving licence covered by business insurance due to travelling to other branches.
