About the role We’ve got exciting projects on the horizon, and we’re keen to connect with experienced Project Managers and Project Engineers who might be considering a change later this year and beyond. Based in Napier and servicing work across Hawke’s Bay, this is an expression of interest for people who want to be part of our growing Civil Projects team and help deliver the good work we’re known for. This is not tied to one specific project. At times, you’ll be directly involved in project delivery. At other times, you’ll be helping shape tenders, develop methodology and win future work. Our Civil business specialises in reinforced concrete and heavy civil infrastructure. Whether you’re coming in as a Project Manager or a Project Engineer, you’ll play an important role in the planning, coordination and delivery of civil construction projects. These roles will help bridge the gap between design, planning and construction, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the right standard. It’s a great opportunity to build your expertise while contributing to meaningful work that benefits communities. This diverse portfolio will include work across: Deep shaft construction for pump stations Bridge retaining walls and complex structural works Underpasses and transport structures Major infrastructure and upcoming water infrastructure projects Tunnelling works and confined-space structures Wastewater treatment plants and water treatment facilities Wharves, bridges, storage tanks and pipelines If you’re after meaningful civil structures work, strong teams, and the chance to be part of exciting projects coming through the Napier region, this could be a good time to start a conversation. Key role responsibilities: Lead or support the planning, coordination and delivery of civil structures and water infrastructure projects across Napier and the wider Hawke’s Bay region. Manage teams and subcontractors, coordinate across disciplines, and optimise resources, plant and workforce efficiency. Develop construction methodology, plans and project documentation, while helping shape tenders and future opportunities. Monitor budgets, expenses, forecasts and programme performance, including cost to complete, invoicing and financial reporting. Provide technical support, resolve on-site issues, and maintain high standards across safety, quality and environmental compliance. We’re looking for someone with: A BE, NZCE or Diploma in Civil Engineering, ideally at Level 7 or 8 on the NZQF. 10+ years of post-graduate experience across civil construction project delivery. New Zealand experience is preferred but not essential. Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly across project teams and provide thorough handovers. Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with crews, subcontractors, clients and internal stakeholders. Sound commercial capability, including cost control, programming, working within budget and delivering positive commercial outcomes. Good work, good benefits At Fulton Hogan, we genuinely care about the wellbeing of our people and giving them the tools and opportunities they need to succeed and grow with us. You’ll have access to: Medical insurance and Life insurance after an eligibility period. Fuel discount card. KiwiSaver employer contributions after service milestones, up to 7%. Parental leave top up payment with additional return to work support. Ongoing training and development, with clear career growth and progression opportunities. Great discounts at a wide range of retailers. About us At Fulton Hogan, Good Work is more than what we deliver. It’s how we work, how we treat each other, and how we keep moving forward. We’re flat, friendly and low ego. We take the work seriously, not ourselves. That means ideas can come from anywhere, people back each other, and when the stakes are high, we switch on and deliver. If you’re looking to make a move, we can support relocation across New Zealand for the right person. For international applicants, we ask that you clearly outline the research you’ve done into moving to New Zealand and the requirements involved as part of your expression of interest. How to apply If you’re an experienced Project Manager or Project Engineer thinking about your next move later this year or beyond, we’d love to hear from you. Send us your CV or register your interest and let’s have a chat about what could be next at Fulton Hogan.
