Department Description Our Target Discovery Department, Human Biology division in Research Technologies at GSK comprises of several disciplines that provide the deep scientific knowledge and technical capabilities required to discover and validate potential novel therapeutic targets through the application of extensive genetic analyses, high throughput genome editing, and endophenotyping in well-characterized human cellular and in vivo models. GSK Early Careers Top Tips: Learn practical advice from GSK on how to prepare a standout application and succeed in your early careers journey: GSK Early Careers Top Tips Job Description An exciting opportunity is available for a highly motivated and experienced stem cell scientist to join our collaborative team in developing novel iPSC-based disease models for large-scale functional genomics studies. These efforts are central to target discovery, validation, and pathway studies of critical importance to the GSK R&D pipeline, with a focus on genetically driven diseases in neurodegeneration. As part of our multi-faceted, dynamic, and cutting-edge scientific environment, you will work closely with talented colleagues across disciplines. This role is designed for individuals who thrive in team settings and are eager to contribute to shared goals while advancing their own career. Key responsibilities include: Work alongside team members to conduct iPSC cultures and differentiation into cell types relevant to neurodegeneration research. Support the development and optimization of disease-relevant cellular models and functional assays to evaluate cellular phenotypes and pathway involvement. Accurately document experimental procedures and results. Communicate findings through written records, internal presentations, and discussions within the team. Follow laboratory best practices, including safety guidelines, data integrity standards, and reproducible research workflows. Minimum Qualifications Pursuing a degree in Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or similar disciplines. Solid practical experience with mammalian cell culture and maintenance. Proficiency in core cellular and molecular biology techniques. Ability to independently analyze, summarize, and interpret experimental data. Experience in maintaining detailed records in compliance with company policies. Demonstrated strengths in building relationships, flexible thinking, and driving change effectively. Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the 6-month co-op (October 2026 ~ April 2027). Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible. Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience in stem cell research. Familiarity with genetic, proteomic, imaging, and/or other ‘omics technologies. Practical knowledge of iPSC-derived models for neurodegenerative diseases. Experience with bioinformatic analysis using Software like Python or R. Eligibility Requirements Must successfully pass a drug screen and background check prior to assignment target start date. The pay rate range provided is a reasonable estimate of the anticipated compensation range for this job at the time of posting. The actual pay rate will be based on several factors, including skills, competencies, experience, educational degree obtained, location and/or being pursued and other job-related factors permitted by law.
