Field Service Diesel Technician

Job Summary: Technical specialist and primary customer support contact to diagnose and execute complex repairs to engine products at the customer’s site. We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in (Elko, NV). We offer sign - on bonus, relocation, competitive pay and benefits! Will make an impact in the following ways: Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products Maintain own tools In order to be successful in this role you will need the following: Completes complex internal engine repairs Performs complex unassisted engine overhauls Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation Occasional assignments working underground to support mining business Active daily participation in safety processes Thorough documentation of repairs including recording unit information and detailed repair/troubleshooting steps as necessary Working nonstandard shifts occasionally in support of business needs(nights/weekends) Show up on time at the shop or assigned work location Timely submission of service documentation Working rotating shift schedules in support of mining customer Frequent communication with customers and supervisors when working remotely Independent management/reconciliation of compony issues credit cards Proactive scheduling of PTO/time off Flexibility in short notice scheduling changes including out-of-town assignments Attention to clean work habits at the end of shift and throughout the shift Complying with federal DOT laws while operating company vehicles - including ELD devices Professionally communicating/representing Cummins to the customer Complying with management directives as needed in support of business operations - A current valid license is required for this role - Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience - This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations Education, Licenses, Certifications: Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred) Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution Locally valid driving permit This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. Experience: Significant field service work experience Expert level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products Customer service experience Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred) Compensation and Benefits Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
