FINANCE MANAGER

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Finance Manager to lead the organization’s financial strategy, planning, performance management, funding initiatives, and overall financial governance.
This is a strategic finance leadership role for a finance professional who goes beyond accounting and reporting. The successful candidate will be expected to translate financial data into business decisions, manage profitability, evaluate investment opportunities, support capital raising and funding activities, and work closely with senior leadership in driving sustainable business growth.
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in Corporate Finance and/or Investment Banking, combined with hands-on experience in funding, capital raising, financial modeling, commercial finance, and P&L management.
The role will work closely with senior management and business leaders across the organization and will play a key role in strengthening financial discipline, optimizing capital allocation, and supporting the company’s expansion strategy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Strategy & Business Leadership
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s short- and long-term business objectives.
- Partner with senior management in evaluating business opportunities, expansion initiatives, investments, and strategic projects.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support executive decision-making.
- Translate complex financial information into clear, commercially relevant business recommendations.
- Establish financial performance metrics and drive accountability across business units.
2. Profit & Loss Management
- Take ownership of the organization’s financial performance and P&L management.
- Monitor revenue, gross margins, operating expenses, EBITDA, cash flow, and overall profitability.
- Identify profitability improvement opportunities and develop actionable initiatives to improve financial performance.
- Analyze business unit and product-level performance and provide recommendations to management.
- Ensure financial targets and budgets are translated into measurable operating plans.
3. Corporate Finance, Funding & Capital Raising
- Lead or support the company’s funding and capital-raising initiatives, including debt and equity financing.
- Develop financial models, funding proposals, investment cases, and management presentations for financing activities.
- Manage relationships with banks, financial institutions, investors, and other funding partners.
- Evaluate financing structures, funding costs, capital requirements, and associated financial risks.
- Support negotiations with financial institutions and potential investors.
- Identify opportunities to optimize the company's capital structure and cost of capital.
4. Investment & Financial Analysis
- Conduct financial analysis and valuation of potential investments, projects, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives.
- Develop and review financial models, business cases, forecasts, and investment proposals.
- Assess investment returns, risks, cash flows, payback periods, and financial viability.
- Provide recommendations based on financial and commercial analysis.
- Support due diligence activities for strategic investments, partnerships, and potential acquisitions.
5. Financial Planning & Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting and financial planning process.
- Develop rolling forecasts and long-term financial projections.
- Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts and investigate material variances.
- Establish financial scenarios and sensitivity analyses to support business planning.
- Strengthen financial planning processes across business units.
6. Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Oversee cash flow planning, liquidity management, and working capital requirements.
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts to ensure adequate funding for operations and strategic initiatives.
- Monitor receivables, payables, inventory investment, and working capital efficiency.
- Work with banking partners to optimize treasury and financing arrangements.
7. Commercial Finance & Business Partnering
- Act as a strategic finance partner to Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and other business functions.
- Evaluate pricing, margins, cost structures, customer profitability, and commercial opportunities.
- Provide financial guidance on major contracts, commercial initiatives, and business decisions.
- Develop financial dashboards and management reports that provide actionable business insights.
- Promote a strong culture of financial accountability and commercial decision-making throughout the organization.
8. Financial Governance & Risk Management
- Ensure sound financial controls, policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
- Identify financial, liquidity, investment, and commercial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting, taxation, regulatory, and corporate requirements.
- Work closely with external auditors, financial institutions, advisors, and other stakeholders as required.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 7–10 years of progressive experience in Finance, Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Financial Planning, Treasury, or related disciplines.
- Proven experience in P&L management and financial performance management.
- Demonstrated experience in funding, capital raising, debt/equity financing, or financial structuring.
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, valuation, and investment analysis capabilities.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to connect financial performance with business strategy.
- Experience working directly with senior management, banks, investors, or other financial stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Preferred
- Experience in Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Private Equity, Commercial Banking, or a large corporate environment.
- Experience handling capital-raising transactions, financing facilities, or major investment projects.
- Experience in industries such as Agriculture, Agribusiness, Manufacturing, FMCG, Food, Distribution, Infrastructure, or other asset-intensive businesses.
- CPA, CFA, MBA, or other relevant professional qualification is an advantage.
- Experience managing or mentoring finance professionals.
