Rainy River

Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.

Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. About The Role

Schedule: Shift 5/2 4/3 – 9.5 hour days

Location: Rainy River

Position Reports To: General Manager

Position Overview

The Manager, Finance is a key member of the mine site leadership team responsible for the accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, Life of Mine preparation, site payroll, cost management, internal controls, and financial systems of the operation.

The Manager, Finance provides financial leadership and analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making and partners closely with the General Manager and site leadership to optimize operating and capital costs, manage financial risk, and achieve the mine's business plan and Life of Mine objectives.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on finance leader with strong technical accounting and controllership skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to translate financial information into actionable business insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the site finance and accounting function and serve as a strategic financial partner to the General Manager and site leadership
  • Oversee site accounting, financial reporting, monthly and quarterly close, general ledger, reconciliations, and management reporting
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information in accordance with U.S. GAAP, Coeur policies, SOX requirements, and applicable regulations
  • Partner with FP&A and Operations on annual budgets, forecasts, strategic plans, and Life of Mine planning
  • Analyze financial and operating performance, including budgets, forecasts, KPIs, and cost trends, and recommend actions to improve performance
  • Partner with Operations to optimize operating and capital costs and evaluate business opportunities and financial risks
  • Maintain effective internal controls and financial governance and identify opportunities for process and control improvements
  • Recommends and assists in implementing process improvements to either the accounting processes or SOX and management controls
  • Research and resolve complex accounting matters and partner with Corporate Finance and Accounting on technical accounting and reporting requirements
  • Coordinate internal, external, and tax audits and support Corporate Tax with site tax requirements
  • Oversee site finance systems and partner with Corporate IT on system enhancements, process improvements, and technology initiatives
  • Manage employee payroll processing
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing finance team and foster strong Finance and Operations partnerships
  • Promote Coeur's commitment to safety, responsible mining, accountability, and operational excellence

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • 10–15 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, preferably in mining or natural resources
  • Prior experience leading a finance function in a mine site or complex operating environment strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX, internal controls, and public company reporting.
  • Strong technical accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management experience
  • Mining industry experience and knowledge of operating costs, capital expenditures, and Life of Mine planning preferred
  • ERP/financial systems experience; S4 Hana preferred
  • Strong leadership, supervision, mentorship, communication, business partnership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across the organization
  • Ability to relocate to or spend significant time at the mine site
