Financial Controller (Cape Verdi)

Finance Controller (based in Cape Verdi) for a commercial hospitality business seeking a hands on, experienced financial controller to support their UK Group Finance Director (GFD). You will have a strong technical skillset as well as a natural ability for commercial focus, comprehensive reporting and staff management. The Financial Controller will be a strategic partner to the GFD, providing financial guidance and driving the businesses financial planning and cash management.

Applicants will be considered if they are qualified ACA or ACCA or similar with 2 to 3 years’ post qualification experience looking to obtain expat experience on their CV.

Applicants must hold a UK Passport to enable visa application process in Cape Verdi and a UK accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA.

The role ideally requires a prompt start, so candidates must be unencumbered to make the move to the island.

What you’ll be doing:

• Manage a team of approximately 20 people based on location to ensure efficient reporting of daily information
• Provide information on daily cash flow from the island to the HQ
• Manage the invoice processing system reporting to HQ Finance Team
• Ensure weekly and monthly financial information is provided timely and accurately to the HQ Finance Team
• Prepare financial reports and forecasts for review
• Be an active participant in strategic business meetings
• Travel to HQ office as and when required, maybe on a quarterly basis
• Ensure the management reporting team maintain the highest standard financial records and reporting standards locally

Key Requirements:

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or similar UK qualification is essential
• 3 to 5 years' experience in a finance manager type role
• Hold a UK Passport to enable visa application in Cape Verdi
• Strong financial reporting skills
• Advanced Excel capabilities
• Demonstrative skills using accounting softwares like SAP, Oracle or Sage Line 200
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Highly adaptable with excellent interpersonal skills
• Proactive approach to financial team management
• Confidence to work closely with business owners, Directors and senior leadership teams
