The Team You're Joining

Agriculture and food system emissions make up a third of global greenhouse gas emissions, with animal agriculture accounting for nearly half of that figure. South Korea's meat consumption has been growing rapidly with little sign of slowing down, jeopardizing the country's Paris Agreement commitments.
SFOC's Food and Agriculture Program conducts research and launches campaigns to drive a transition away from carbon- and land-intensive food systems, using sustainable low-emission approaches such as alternative proteins — collaborating closely with policymakers, domestic and international industry, academia, and civil society.

How You'll Contribute

Strategize and implement pathways to accelerate the adoption of alternative proteins in Korea
Conduct research on Korea's low-emission food systems, including the alternative proteins landscape, stakeholder mapping, and policy analysis
Engage with government, industry, and other stakeholders to build an enabling environment for alternative proteins and low-emission food systems
Build campaigns to raise public awareness of alternative proteins as a means to combat the climate crisis
Build solidarity with domestic and international climate and civil society organizations
Coordinate events and amplify research findings, often in collaboration with other SFOC Program and Network teams

Who We're Looking For

Exceptional English writing and verbal communication skills
1 year of related work experience
Passion for climate action and climate justice
2+ years of experience in food & agriculture, climate change, or a related field, with a self-motivated, leadership-driven approach and a passion for addressing the climate crisis
Strategic planning and analytical thinking skills
Strong initiative and a proactive way of working
Communication skills to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders
Ability to navigate ambiguity and set direction on new projects
Interest in and understanding of alternative proteins, food and agriculture, climate change, and environmental issues
Fluency in Korean and English, both speaking and writing

Nice to Have

Academic degree or work experience in climate, agriculture, or a related field
Experience writing policy proposals, reports, or research articles
Advocacy experience at research institutes, think tanks, or civil society organizations
Track record of leading projects independently as well as collaborating across multiple teams.
