Forward Deployed AI Engineer

About the Role

This hands-on, customer-facing engineering role sits at the intersection of AI, product, and implementation at an insurtech company. You will work with enterprise insurance brokerages to understand their workflows, build AI-powered solutions, and help turn successful implementations into scalable product capabilities.

What You'll Do

• Own enterprise implementations from gathering requirements through building and deploying solutions.

• Work directly with post-sales customers to scope business problems and shape technical approaches.

• Build and ship AI agents, automations, and integrations, often within the same week as customer discovery.

• Bring successful customer-specific work back into the core platform.

• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to turn customer insights into reusable features.

What We're Looking For

• Three to six years of post-college engineering experience; this role is not intended for new graduates.

• Customer-facing engineering experience, including scoping post-sales problems and delivering solutions quickly.

• Full-stack development skills and proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.

• Experience building and scaling enterprise deployments through product features or automations.

• Experience building or deploying AI/ML automations, agentic workflows, or LLM pipelines in production.

• Background in insurance or financial services is helpful, as is experience at a venture-backed startup.

• A degree from a highly regarded university or equivalent academic background.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary range: $180,000 to $300,000 USD. Visa sponsorship is available.

Location

On-site, five days per week in San Francisco, California, United States.
