The Role

Are you a motivated and forward-thinking pharmacist looking to build a rewarding career within one of the UK's largest NHS organisations? NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Foundation Pharmacist (Rotational) to join our Clyde Sector Pharmacy Team based at Inverclyde Royal Hospital. This role offers a structured rotational programme across a variety of clinical specialties, providing excellent opportunities to develop your clinical knowledge, prescribing skills and professional practice. Working alongside experienced multidisciplinary teams, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care while benefiting from outstanding training, support and career development opportunities. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Full-time, Permanent
  • You will be based at Inverclyde Royal Hospital but rotational for the Clyde sector
  • Working Pattern: 5 days over 7 with weekend working, public holiday and on-call rotas.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients across a range of clinical specialties and ward environments

Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and ward rounds to support safe and effective medicines management

Review, monitor and optimise medicines use, ensuring prescribing is clinically appropriate, safe and cost effective

Provide expert medicines advice and information to patients, carers, prescribers and healthcare professionals

Support seamless pharmaceutical care through effective communication with primary and secondary care colleagues

Contribute to clinical governance activities, service improvement initiatives, audit and quality improvement work

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Master's Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent qualification

Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

Completion of pre-registration training and successful completion of the registration assessment

Commitment to undertaking and completing the Vocational Foundation Training Programme and ongoing professional development

Knowledge of current legislation, professional standards and guidance relating to the safe use of medicines

Excellent communication, organisational and numerical skills with the ability to build effective working relationships

Ability to prioritise workload, apply clinical reasoning and work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
