About Hextron
Hextrion is a U.S.-headquartered company building next-generation semiconductor advanced packaging for AI chips. As AI chips grow larger and more complex, advanced packaging has become one of the biggest constraints on AI hardware, and one of the least explored frontiers for AI. We combine world-class packaging expertise with frontier physics AI to transform how advanced packages are designed and manufactured. Hextrion is led by former C-suite and senior executives from the leading advanced packaging suppliers to NVIDIA, AMD, Broadcom, Google and Amazon, and our AI team brings together physics AI researchers from Harvard and AI manufacturing experts who have deployed AI systems at leading manufacturers, including TSMC.
About the role
As a Founding AI Researcher, you'll build AI surrogate models that replace slow physics simulations with fast, accurate predictions across advanced packaging design and manufacturing. You'll work with real manufacturing data and production lines that few AI researchers ever get access to, collaborate closely with world-class packaging engineers, and have the ownership to shape our research direction from the ground up.
What you'll do
- Build AI surrogate models for physics simulation across coupled thermal, mechanical, chemical, and electrical domains.
- Architect models that stay accurate across new designs, scales, and operating conditions.
- Calibrate models against real-world data and quantify uncertainty, so predictions can guide engineering decisions.
- Run large-scale training experiments and build the tools and datasets behind them.
- Work with packaging engineers and researchers across the U.S. and Taiwan to bring research into real-world use.
What we're looking for
- A track record of exceptional research, such as first-author publications at top venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR or leading journals), or equivalent impact in industry.
- Original contributions to physics AI, such as new methods in neural operators, physics-informed ML or learned simulators, ideally adopted by others.
- Deep engineering skills and hands-on experience training models at scale.
- The ability to turn ambiguous, real-world problems into working systems, with full ownership from idea to deployment.
- Experience in semiconductors, advanced packaging, electronic design automation, manufacturing, physics-based simulation tools, uncertainty quantification or inverse problems.
Role Details
- Minimum education: PhD or equivalent research experience in industry
- Compensation: $150,000-$250,000 + equity, depending on experience
- Visa sponsorship: Yes. We will support the visa process.
