About the company

A seed-funded startup building the infrastructure that connects AI systems and companies with verified human experts on demand, a labor marketplace with a large, established network of registered experts across research, evaluation, and specialized consulting work.

The company sits at the intersection of AI infrastructure, marketplace dynamics, and research services, and is shifting from a research tool into a broader platform company with a growing set of API integrations launching soon. \The role This is a true founding engineer seat on a small team where everyone works across the entire product.

In the same week you might improve expert onboarding, debug a payout, build a recruitment agent, or extend a customer integration.

You'll work directly with the CTO and operations team to identify what needs attention and take it through to production, and within your first month you're expected to understand the product end-to-end and independently ship improvements wherever they're needed. \What you'll do\

  • Own and scale the core recruitment engine that finds any niche audience through network traversal, targeted outreach, referrals, and automated methods
  • Build and extend the API that research tooling and AI data companies integrate against
  • Build and improve agents that screen experts through voice and chat, assess work quality, identify fraud, and support internal operations, then evaluate and improve their reliability with real users
  • Build marketplace systems for opportunity matching, pricing, feasibility estimation, and repeat engagement
  • Design and build the expert-facing experience, from onboarding through ongoing work and payouts, working directly with experts and operations to find and fix friction points
  • Own what you ship in production, investigating failures across the product, background jobs, and external services
  • Work directly with the CTO to help shape the architecture behind autonomous agents, real-time voice, and a global expert marketplace

\What you must bring\

  • 3+ years of full-stack experience, with a track record of taking ambiguous problems from investigation through to a working, shipped product
  • Fluency in TypeScript, React, and Postgres, with comfort picking up unfamiliar parts of the stack as the work requires
  • Genuine effectiveness with AI coding tools — using them to move quickly while still taking full responsibility for understanding, reviewing, and testing what you ship
  • Real excitement for marketplace dynamics: matching, routing, pricing, and network effects
  • Comfort working across the whole product, talking directly with users, and figuring out what to do without a detailed spec
  • Willingness to work in-person in San Francisco, with a high-agency, self-directed approach to the work

\Nice to have\

  • Experience with LLMs, voice AI agents, or evaluation frameworks

\Compensation & logistics\

  • $140K–$210K base salary plus meaningful equity vested over four years
  • $10K relocation bonus for moving to the Bay Area, plus an additional $5K housing bonus for moving within half a mile of the office
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance, plus 401(k) with company match
  • Fully in-person in San Francisco
  • 1 opening
  • Open to visa sponsorship (H-1B, O-1, OPT)

\This isn't the right fit if\

  • You're not comfortable working in a high-agency, self-directed environment
  • You're very specialized in a single area rather than comfortable moving across the whole stack
  • You need a detailed specification before you can start work
