TLDR: Help us reach the planning and project controls teams behind the world's biggest construction and infrastructure projects. We are looking for an early-career outbound specialist who loves starting conversations – researching accounts, getting senior planners on the phone and booking qualified meetings. There is a fast path into running deals as an Account Executive, leading the SDR team, or into other parts of the company. London, £60–80k base (£80–100k OTE).
About us:
We're an AI-first company, and that starts with our own work. We automate what we can and do old-school what we must, building the tools and knowledge that teams of humans and AIs need to run construction and infrastructure projects.
At Planlab we build AI coworkers for project scheduling - they generate schedules, run assurance checks, keep progress up to date, model scenarios and delay impacts, and produce reports. This enables planning teams on infrastructure and construction programmes to spend their time on decisions rather than admin.
Our customers are asset owners, contractors and consultancies. We support them deliver projects including railways, highways, airports, power plants, solar farms, steel mills or data centres.
We're a small team in London (8 people), growing fast, and looking for people who see a problem and run at it - figuring things out, and not stopping at "that's not my job." Any new joiner can make a big difference. We raised our Seed round earlier this year at a ~$25m valuation, and are now aggressively scaling the business.
The role:
The Founding SDR will build the engine that will drive the growth of our business drives: finding the right accounts, starting conversations with planning and project controls leaders, and booking qualified first meetings.
You'll be on the phone and in front of prospects yourself. You'll join first meetings, write our first outbound playbook, and hand it to the SDRs who come after you. There's a path into running deals as an Account Executive, leading the SDR team, or into other parts of the company.
What we offer:
- Base salary ranging £60k to £80k depending on experience, with on-target earnings of £80k to £100k
- Nice office in London with some flexibility on hybrid
- Skilled worker visa sponsorship if needed - we're a very international team
- Close support from the Commercial Lead, and direct exposure to the founders
- Highly entrepreneurial environment
- All the equipment, software and tokens you need to do the best job
- Unlimited headroom to grow
Responsibilities:
- Build target account and contact lists across asset owners, contractors and consultancies
- Research accounts and live projects so every message is specific to the person and the project
- Run multi-channel outbound - phone, email, LinkedIn and events - to planning managers, project controls leads and delivery directors
- Qualify prospects and book meetings for the sales team and founders
- Join first meetings, make the introduction and help run discovery
- Test messaging, segments and channels, and track what works
- Write our first outbound playbook: sequences, scripts, objection handling and qualification criteria
- Use AI tools to research, personalise and automate outreach
- Keep the CRM accurate and report weekly on activity, meetings and pipeline created
- Capture what prospects ask for, push back on and care about, and relay it clearly to the commercial, delivery and product teams
What we are looking for:
- Experience as an outbound SDR or in a client-facing commercial role
- Confident on the phone and with senior people: persistent without being pushy
- Excellent structured communicator, especially in writing - outreach that sounds like a person, not a template
- Strong problem solver: takes ownership and finds a way through, rather than waiting to be told
- Curious and quick to learn new tools, including AI tools, and comfortable using them in your own work
- Organised and disciplined about volume and follow-up
- Comfortable with ambiguity and change in an early-stage startup
- Interest in construction or infrastructure is a plus, but not required
Ideal backgrounds:
- SDRs or BDRs at B2B software companies, ideally early-stage
- Early-career sales or business development with a strong outbound track record
- Early-career startup generalists who have owned growth or outbound
- Experience selling into project controls, planning or engineering functions
Send us your CV and a short note about why you'd be a great fit.
