Description: STG is a SEI CMMi Level 5 company with several Fortune 500 and State Government clients. STG has an opening for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Architect.
Please note that this project assignment is with our own direct clients. We do not go through any vendors. STG only does business with direct end clients. This is expected to be a long-term position. STG will provide immigration and permanent residency sponsorship assistance to those candidates who need it.
Experience Required:
The GCP Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and implementing enterprise-scale cloud solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role provides technical leadership for cloud transformation initiatives, ensures alignment with enterprise architecture standards, and collaborates with business, security, development, and operations teams to deliver secure, scalable, and cost-effective solutions.
The architect will lead cloud strategy, application modernization, data platform architecture, integration design, security compliance, and operational governance while supporting enterprise digital transformation objectives. Responsibilities may include GCP environment setup, security configuration, production readiness, data architecture, API enablement, and cloud integration activities.
Cloud Architecture & Strategy:
- Define and maintain enterprise cloud architecture standards, patterns, and best practices.
- Design scalable, resilient, and secure solutions leveraging GCP services.
- Create target-state architecture, reference architectures, and migration roadmaps.
- Provide architecture governance and technical direction across multiple initiatives.
- Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend adoption strategies.
Solution Design
- Lead architecture design for cloud-native applications, APIs, integration platforms, and data solutions.
- Define infrastructure, networking, security, identity management, and monitoring frameworks.
- Architect high-availability, disaster recovery, business continuity, and backup solutions.
- Ensure architectural designs align with enterprise security and compliance requirements.
Data & Analytics
- Design enterprise data lake, data warehouse, and analytics solutions on GCP.
- Define data ingestion, transformation, governance, and retention strategies.
- Lead architecture for reporting, dashboarding, artificial intelligence, and machine learning initiatives.
- Establish scalable data integration patterns between enterprise systems.
Security & Compliance
- Implement cloud security architecture using industry and organizational standards.
- Guide identity and access management, secrets management, encryption, and monitoring strategies.
- Support security reviews, privacy assessments, audit requirements, and compliance initiatives.
- Ensure solutions comply with regulatory, legal, and enterprise governance standards.
Migration & Modernization
- Lead application and data migrations from on-premises or legacy platforms to GCP.
- Assess current-state environments and develop modernization strategies.
- Define migration approaches, dependency mapping, and implementation plans.
- Minimize risk while maximizing business value during cloud transformation efforts.
DevOps & Operations
- Promote Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), CI/CD, automation, and GitOps practices.
- Define cloud operational standards, monitoring, observability, and support processes.
- Optimize cloud performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Drive FinOps initiatives and cloud cost optimization strategies.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with business leaders, product owners, development teams, security teams, and vendors.
- Present architecture recommendations to senior leadership and governance boards.
- Mentor cloud engineers and development teams on GCP best practices.
- Serve as the primary technical advisor for cloud initiatives.
Experience
- 10+ years of IT experience.
- 5+ years of cloud architecture experience.
- 3+ years designing enterprise solutions on Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience leading large-scale cloud migration and modernization programs.
- Experience with enterprise integration, security, and data architecture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Google Professional Cloud Architect Certification.
- Google Professional Data Engineer Certification.
- Experience with hybrid cloud and multi-cloud environments.
- Experience with AI/ML architecture and data engineering solutions.
- Experience implementing enterprise-scale regulatory and compliance solutions.
- Knowledge of Agile, SAFe, and DevSecOps methodologies.
