General Manager – Five Guys (Life’s Food Franchise)
Location: Greenville, NC ({{location_address}})
Total Compensation: $64,000 – $68,000 Base Salary + Up to $12,000/year in Bonuses & Cash Incentives (Total Earnings Potential: $76,000 – $80,000+)
About Life’s Food
At Life’s Food, we are a locally owned franchisee group operating 35 Five Guys locations across North Carolina, South Carolina, and East Tennessee (including high-demand markets like Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg). We don’t just hire managers—we partner with leaders who want to run a high-performance business. We’re looking for a high-energy "people person" in Greenville, NC who leads from the front on the line during peak hours and keeps a sharp eye on store profitability.
The Life’s Food Advantage: A Bonus You Actually Control
Forget standard profit-sharing formulas designed by a corporate office that cut into your earnings. Our bonus program is simple, direct, and paid out Quarterly:
- Up to $2,500 Per Quarter in Performance Bonuses ($10,000/yr): Driven directly by controllable metrics—labor efficiency, food waste, and daily store operating costs.
- Up to $2,000/yr in Secret Shopper Cash: We pass Five Guys Secret Shopper cash incentive rewards directly to store leaders for top audit scores.
- No Rent or Overhead Penalties: Your bonus isn't slashed by fixed costs like rent, taxes, or store insurance.
- Real Ownership: Run an efficient, tight shop, and you see the direct payoff in your paycheck every quarter.
What Else We Offer
- Company Car Program ($8,900/yr Value): Fully funded vehicle program available to high-performing, tenured GMs—we cover the vehicle, plus all routine maintenance and registration.
- Health & Financial Security: Comprehensive Health, Dental, Vision, and Disability insurance, plus a 401(k) with company match.
- Balanced Life & Support: Generous Paid Time Off (PTO), free shift meals, and dedicated team resources (including in-store chaplain support).
Support, Schedule & Work-Life Balance
We build our store structures so General Managers can focus on high-level leadership without burning out on the line:
- 45-Hour Standard Workweek: Focused operational schedules designed for sustainable long-term performance.
- Robust In-Store Support Team: You are supported by up to 1 Assistant Manager, 6 Shift Leaders, and an unlimited team of Crew Trainers to keep shifts running smoothly.
- Flexible Scheduling: Schedules are performance-driven and tailored around store operational needs rather than rigid corporate templates.
Career Growth & Scale
- Clear Promotion Pathways: Direct advancement opportunities to Multi-Unit Leader / District Manager, or tailored leadership development designed to prepare you for executive hospitality leadership.
- Regional Mobility: Potential transfer or relocation opportunities across our 35-store footprint in desirable East TN mountain destinations and coastal markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the People: Recruit, coach, and inspire a top-notch crew. Stay active on the line alongside your team during peak rushes while developing your Shift Leaders and Crew Trainers.
- Manage the Numbers: Take charge of your P&L by keeping labor schedules efficient and food waste low to maximize your quarterly bonus payouts.
- Set the Standard: Drive high operational standards, food safety, and memorable customer experiences across your store.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of leadership in high-volume fast-casual, QSR, or hospitality management.
- Solid financial sense with hands-on experience controlling labor and food costs.
- High-energy, coaching mindset with a track record of developing crew members and shift leads.
- Flexibility to work a 45-hour flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends) based on store performance and business needs.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
With or without reasonable accommodation, team members must be able to:
- Stand and walk for up to 8 hours per shift (with scheduled breaks) on tile or non-slip floors
- Regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs (e.g., potato bags, produce boxes, oil containers), including from floor to shoulder height
- Push and pull loaded carts, supply bins, and trash/grease receptacles
- Frequently bend, squat, kneel, and reach overhead or below waist level to stock, retrieve supplies, and clean
- Use hands repetitively, with the finger dexterity needed for the POS, food assembly, and wrapping
- Safely operate hot equipment (flat-top grills, fryers) and tolerate heat, steam, and hot oil
- Move between the hot cook line and cooler areas (walk-ins, outdoor delivery/trash areas)
- Work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume, noisy kitchen
- Use close, distance, and peripheral vision to read tickets, monitor the grill, and run the register
- Communicate clearly with guests and teammates and follow safety instructions
Allergen Notice: We cook exclusively in peanut oil, and whole peanuts are served in-restaurant. Team members will regularly handle or be exposed to peanuts, peanut oil, and peanut dust.
