General Manager in Training Job Description
WCSC Green Bay, LLC d/b/a Home Instead
Objective:
The General Manager in Training (GMIT) is a leadership development role designed to prepare a motivated career professional to lead a Home Instead location. Based at our corporate headquarters in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the GMIT will work closely with experienced leaders and gain hands-on experience across operations, sales, recruiting, staffing, financial performance, and team leadership. As skills and experience develop, the GMIT will take on increasing levels of responsibility while integrating our Core Value, Love (v.), into the culture of the organization: patience, kindness, humility, selflessness, respectfulness, forgiveness, honesty, and commitment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Learn how each functional area of the business works together to drive growth, operational performance, and strong client service.
- Gain hands-on experience with revenue, expenses, budgeting, forecasting, profitability, and other key business metrics.
- Support sales and business development efforts, including building community and referral relationships.
- Learn and participate in recruiting, staffing, employee retention, coaching, and team development.
- Review performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve growth, service, efficiency, and profitability.
- Participate in business reviews, leadership meetings, strategic planning, and operational projects.
- Build strong relationships with Key Players, Care Professionals, clients, families, and referral partners.
- Take on increasing levels of leadership responsibility as skills, experience, and readiness develop.
- Travel to and support other company locations as needed.
- Adhere to and implement company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
- All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, management, finance, marketing, healthcare administration, or a related field; equivalent experience may also be considered.
- Early professional experience demonstrating leadership, initiative, or increasing responsibility.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Interest in business operations, sales, people leadership, and financial performance.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and managing changing priorities.
- Willingness to receive feedback, learn quickly, and take ownership.
- Strong organizational skills and comfort working with numbers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Previous home care or healthcare experience is helpful, but not required.

- Ability to learn business operations quickly and apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills.

- Demonstrated initiative, accountability, adaptability, and willingness to accept feedback and coaching.
- Ability to analyze performance information and use data to support business decisions.
- Professional demeanor and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Career Path and Relocation:
Relocation is a nonnegotiable requirement of this position. The GMIT will be based in Green Bay, Wisconsin during an anticipated training period of approximately 3-12 months. Candidates must be willing to relocate within the company footprint when an appropriate General Manager opportunity becomes available. Current markets include Wisconsin, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama. Future placement will depend on business needs, available opportunities, and demonstrated readiness.
WCSC will provide relocation assistance for qualifying moves associated with placement into a General Manager position. Specific assistance will be determined based on the location and circumstances of the move.
