Geotechnical Drill Rig Operator
Superior, WI | $35–$45/hour DOE | Full-time | On-site | Relocation assistance available
Enjoy running a rig, troubleshooting equipment, and working in the field? An established testing and engineering organization is hiring an experienced driller to operate equipment and help lead daily crew work on geotechnical and environmental investigations.
Work alongside project managers and engineers on varied regional projects, with opportunities to develop your skills through training and mentorship. Expect 50–60 hours most weeks. The reporting base is near the listed posting location; its exact location will be shared during the recruiting process.
Your Responsibilities
- Run drilling equipment safely on investigation sites.
- Recover samples, carry out field tests, and document results.
- Prepare equipment for transport and handle inspections and maintenance.
- Coordinate daily field work with crew members and project staff.
- Meet DOT and site safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of drilling experience and demonstrated hands-on rig operation.
- Ability to collect samples and complete field testing and records.
- Valid driver's license and ability to maintain a DOT Medical Card.
- Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds and work on uneven ground in changing outdoor conditions.
- Willingness to work 50–60 hours most weeks with schedule flexibility and frequent regional travel. Weekday hotel-stay options are available for out-of-town work.
- Ability to commute to the nearby reporting base or relocate before your start date.
- Ability to maintain equipment and guide crew members through safe daily work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in geotechnical or environmental investigation drilling.
- Current CDL, or ability to obtain within one year.
- MSHA certification.
