On behalf of the European Space Agency, we are looking for a highly skilled GNC-AOCS Sensors and Actuators Engineer to work in ESTEC, in the Netherlands. Candidates must be eligible for a security personal clearance from an EU Member State national security administration What is expected from you: AOCS and Pointing technical support engineering to Projects and Missions Support definition of AOCS requirements and contribute to the elaboration of System/Mission Requirements related to AOCS domain. Support analyses and trade-offs for AOCS systems, software, and hardware units. Support execution of AOCS and Pointing performance analyses and performance budgeting Support monitoring the industrial activities concerning design and development of AOCS systems, software, and hardware units for ESA projects. Support the Review of the project documentation as produced throughout the project lifetime in the area of AOCS and Pointing engineering, as well as interface documented information from System and spacecraft subsystems Develop and maintain the engineering support tools needed for the above AOCS and Pointing tasks and activities Support the procurement of AOCS hardware units for AOCS subsystem (trade-off, requirements definition, participation to hardware reviews, keypoints,..) Support the verification and validation process of AOCS systems throughout all project phases Support provision of expertise in the AOCS and Pointing disciplines to the AIT and AIV processes and to in-flight activities (e.g. LEOP, commissioning, in-flight anomaly investigations) Contribute to definition, analysis, and verification of AOCS-level and system-level Fault Detection Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) Support provision of AOCS and Pointing expertise in feasibility studies and project reviews Support engineering to the AOCS and GNC sensors and actuators facilities Conduct tests (incl. writing test plan, procedures, reports) in the AOCS/GNC Sensors Laboratory facility to support independent characterization or investigations; Develop and validate ground software (Ground Support Equipment) to interface with AOCS/GNC Sensors or Actuators to enable testing; Develop and validate simulation tools for image sensors or cameras (image rendering,detector characterization); Maintain laboratory facility inventory, Sharepoint structure and calibration status of equipment; Provide support to maintain laboratory facilities and test benches (for safety, nominal operations, enhancements) What you offer : Master’s degree in control engineering and/or aerospace engineering and/or electrical engineering. Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in the field. Experience with AOCS requirements and performance analysis. Knowledge of spacecraft verification and validation processes. Experience with AOCS/GNC sensors, actuators, and laboratory testing. Proficiency in tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++, or equivalent , with experience developing engineering analysis tools, simulation models, test scripts, or Ground Support Equipment software and interfaces. Experience with space-system documentation, reviews, and FDIR Nice to have: Experience with ESA or European institutional space projects. Familiarity with ECSS standards. Knowledge of LEOP, commissioning, and in-flight anomaly investigation. Experience with image sensors, cameras, image rendering, or detector characterisation. Strong technical communication and stakeholder-management skills.
