Tararua Health Group is looking for a GP Registrar to join us at Dannevirke Community Hospital.

This is an opportunity to experience the variety of rural general practice and community healthcare, working with a diverse patient population and developing the confidence and clinical skills that come from practising in a rural setting.

About the Role:

As a GP Registrar, you’ll provide high-quality, patient-centred primary care while continuing to develop your skills and experience in general practice.

Based at Dannevirke Community Hospital, you’ll work within a wider multidisciplinary environment alongside Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals.

The role provides exposure to a broad range of rural healthcare needs, including:

• General practice and primary care
• Acute and same-day presentations
• Chronic and long-term condition management
• Preventative healthcare
• Clinical assessment and decision-making
• Rural and community healthcare
• Working collaboratively across a multidisciplinary environment

We’re looking for a GP Registrar who is adaptable, patient-focused and interested in experiencing rural medicine.

You will bring:

• Current registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and appropriate practising requirements
• Eligibility to undertake GP registrar training in New Zealand
• Strong clinical assessment and communication skills
• Confidence working with an appropriate level of autonomy
• A collaborative approach to patient care
• A commitment to culturally responsive healthcare
• An interest in rural general practice and community medicine
