Head of Aircraft Safety Engineering (all genders)
Permanent, full-time | Bavaria, Germany | Direct placement
On behalf of our client, an aerospace company holding an EASA Part 21J Design Organisation Approval, we are looking for a leader for its safety and maintainability engineering department. This is a direct placement: you will be employed permanently by our client. AIP SERVICES accompanies you through the entire process and supports your move to Bavaria with relocation assistance.
What matters most in this role is the combination: solid knowledge of aircraft safety assessment and real experience in leading engineering teams. You do not need to be the deepest specialist in the room, but you need to understand the methods well enough to steer the work and stand behind the results.
Your role
You lead a team of safety and maintainability engineers and specialists. You set the direction of the department, make sure resources are where the programme needs them and ensure that safety deliverables reach the authorities complete and on time.
Your tasks
- Lead and develop the department, including workforce planning, training and succession
- Define the department’s strategy, priorities and budget
- Allocate resources across development, certification and in-service support
- Steer performance through KPIs, risk management and corrective actions
- Manage external partners and engineering service providers
- Lead safety assessments at aircraft and system level throughout the product life cycle (e.g. FHA, PSSA, SSA, FTA, FMEA, DAL allocation)
- Define safety requirements in the context of aircraft integration and system development
- Steer the maintainability strategy and the development of the scheduled maintenance programme
- Ensure the quality and consistency of safety-related certification documents
- Work closely with engineering, flight test, airworthiness, quality, programme management and customer support
- Act as a key contact for authorities, suppliers and senior management
Your profile
- Degree in aerospace, systems or mechanical engineering or a related field
- Around 15 years of experience in aircraft safety, airworthiness, certification or maintainability engineering
- Solid working knowledge of ARP4754 and ARP4761 and aircraft safety assessment processes
- Proven leadership experience in engineering organisations
- Background in aircraft development and certification programmes
- Experience in signing safety-related certification documentation is an advantage
- Experience with MSG-3 is an advantage
- Fluent English; German is an advantage
What you can expect
- Permanent employment directly with our client
- A leadership role with direct influence on safety and certification of the product
- Relocation support for your move to Bavaria
- Life in Bavaria: lakes and mountains close by, good connections to international airports
- Confidential handling of your application

Apply directly via LinkedIn or send your CV and relevant documents to karriere@aip-services.de.
Please provide a detailed CV: for each position, describe your responsibilities, the programmes or aircraft types you worked on, the safety analyses you performed or led, the size of the teams you managed and any documents you signed as responsible engineer. A short list of keywords does not allow us to assess your experience properly.
All applications are treated confidentially. Interviews can be held in English or German.
