As Head of Department, Department of Management, you will lead a thriving academic department to strengthen impactful research, deepen industry connections, and pursue outstanding student outcomes. Reporting to the Dean (Academic), you will provide strategic direction and leadership across teaching, research, engagement and people management, ensuring the ongoing success and growth. You will cultivate an environment that encourages innovation, collaboration and academic achievement, while driving initiatives that strengthen the Department of Management’s reputation, performance and contribution to Griffith University’s strategic objectives. About you As an accomplished academic leader in Management or a related field, you have a demonstrated history of advancing excellence in teaching, research and external engagement. You possess the strategic insight, leadership expertise and collaborative mindset required to guide a multidisciplinary academic department and inspire outstanding outcomes across people, programs and partnerships. A skilled and influential communicator, you establish strong relationships with academic colleagues, students, industry stakeholders, professional associations and community partners. You bring experience leading complex teams and overseeing budgets and resources, and you are committed to fostering a supportive, high-performing culture in a dynamic and evolving environment. To be successful in this role, you will also possess: A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent accreditation and standing A strong record of achievement in learning and teaching, research and/or industry engagement Proven experience managing people, performance, budgets and resources to achieve strategic objectives The ability to drive innovation, foster collaboration and lead organisational change Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills A commitment to academic excellence, integrity, equity, diversity and inclusion Most importantly, you will be a values-led leader who can inspire others, champion continuous improvement and contribute to Griffith University's reputation as a leading institution for education, research and community impact. What we can offer This is a five year fixed-term senior contract primarily based Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan) or Gold Coast. As Griffith is a multi-site university you may be required to work across other locations. Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
