Head of Growth
Location: San Francisco, CA
Working arrangement: Full-time, on-site, five days per week
About the company
We’re partnering with a venture-backed AI software company building a new way for people and teams to work.
Its product combines a context-aware AI assistant with software built around the workflows users repeat. It connects information across tools, executes work on users’ behalf, and turns recurring tasks into applications that individuals and teams can use.
The product is showing strong early retention. The next challenge is building the acquisition engine that brings it to a much wider audience.
The role
As Head of Growth, you will own demand generation and acquisition from the ground up, taking people from first hearing about the product to arriving and signing up.
This is a hands-on leadership role. Initially, you will personally run campaigns, write copy, build measurement and test channels. As channels prove out, you will hire the team and allocate the budget needed to scale them.
Your primary responsibility is bringing quality users to the product and understanding what it costs to acquire them. Product owns activation and retention.
What you’ll do
- Launch and scale paid acquisition across Meta and Google, then expand into lifecycle, creator partnerships, affiliates, content and organic discovery.
- Establish reliable conversion tracking, including server-side events where appropriate, and improve platform matching and conversion data quality.
- Build a clear view of acquisition economics by channel, accounting for free-trial credits and the AI inference costs associated with customer usage.
- Create a scalable creator and agency program capable of producing hundreds of fresh ad creatives each month.
- Build an affiliate program with clear incentives, revenue-sharing arrangements and an accessible signup process.
- Develop a content engine that demonstrates the product through real workflows and practical use cases.
- Partner with engineering on programmatic SEO and answer engine optimisation, supported by relevant video, community and third-party content.
- Write landing pages, ads, emails, social posts and video scripts yourself.
- Own launches across positioning, copy, social, email, video, press and community.
- Report weekly acquisition volume and costs, assess channel incrementality, and identify when to scale or pull back.
- Hire growth specialists as channels prove out and use AI systems to increase the team’s output.
What we’re looking for
- Direct experience personally running paid campaigns, including channel selection, creative, budgets, optimisation and stopping underperforming activity.
- Proven success taking a product, business, newsletter, channel or community from a small starting audience to meaningful scale, with clear numbers.
- Strong understanding of conversion tracking, attribution, customer acquisition costs and channel economics.
- Experience owning a meaningful marketing budget and recognising diminishing returns as spend increases.
- Breadth across acquisition channels and willingness to test beyond your strongest specialism.
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to produce specific, persuasive copy and adapt to a founder’s voice.
- Practical experience building automation that performs part of your work, includes human oversight and improves through feedback.
- Enough technical fluency to ship a landing page and work effectively with engineering on SEO and measurement.
- Strong understanding of content and distribution across X, YouTube, LinkedIn and TikTok.
- Experience hiring growth talent and a clear view of which roles to add as the function develops.
- Willingness to remain deeply involved in execution during the first six months.
Relevant backgrounds may include growth leadership, performance marketing, user acquisition or demand generation, provided you can demonstrate hands-on acquisition ownership.
