Job Description Summary
As an Installation Lead – Wind Turbine Projects at GE Vernova, you will be the on-site force ensuring that wind turbine projects come together safely, on schedule, and to the highest standards of quality. You will oversee all on-site activities across the full installation lifecycle of wind turbines — from component assembly and tower erection to turbine commissioning and system completion. You will lead subcontractors and site teams, manage schedules and resources, and serve as the primary point of contact for construction managers, technical advisors, quality teams, and other project stakeholders.Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on-site installation operations — coordinate component assembly, tower erection, turbine installation, and completion of electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Manage subcontractors and vendors — direct subcontractors, suppliers, and site laborers, conduct performance reviews, and resolve resource allocation or scheduling conflicts efficiently.
- Drive safety and compliance — enforce Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) protocols, conduct regular inspections and risk assessments, and implement corrective actions to maintain a zero-incident culture on site.
- Monitor and adapt project schedules — track milestones, respond proactively to weather, delivery delays, or unforeseen challenges, and communicate changes clearly to all relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure quality and documentation accuracy — perform on-site quality inspections, address deviations from engineering specifications, and maintain detailed records including daily activity logs, safety reports, Daily Data Collection Reports (DDCR), Dpro entries, and incident documentation.
- Develop your team — mentor on-site staff, provide training and guidance, and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
What You Will Bring
You are an experienced field leader who is as comfortable managing people as you are navigating complex construction challenges in remote environments. You bring deep technical knowledge of wind turbine installation and the leadership presence to keep large teams aligned and focused.
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in wind turbine installation and construction, with a track record of leading large-scale projects to successful completion
- Proven ability to lead and manage on-site construction teams, subcontractors, and field personnel
- At least five years of experience working as a supervisor or in an equivalent leadership position, overseeing the performance of construction teams and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality work.
- In-depth knowledge of construction safety regulations, standards, and compliance requirements
- Strong problem-solving skills — able to quickly diagnose and resolve equipment, logistics, or site access issues with minimal disruption to project progress
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Supervisory experience in an equivalent field leadership position
- This role will be based at remote or rural project sites, which may involve travel to different locations, with the potential for extended periods away from home. You should be comfortable working in isolated areas and adapting to diverse site conditions.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. However, substantial, and relevant work experience in lieu of formal education will be considered.
- Previous experience with GE Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) platforms
- Prior wind farm delivery experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) at an intermediate level or above
- Experience with construction management software, project tracking systems, and scheduling tools
- Relevant certifications in wind energy, safety, or project management
- Global Wind Organisation (GWO) standard safety training
