Position Title: Interventional Radiology Tech - Adult Interventional Radiology - days Department: Interventional Radiology Job Description: This position may be filled as an Interventional Technologist 1, 2, or 3, depending on individual experience, certifications, education, and other qualifications. Special Benefits: Sign-on bonus up to $10,000 for qualified individuals Student loan repayment up to $25,000 Relocation assistance if moving 100+ miles Location: 'University of Oklahoma Medical Center Shift : Full-Time, Days, 7a-7p Call required The Interventional Radiology (IR) Department at OU Medical Center provides advanced, minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using image-guided techniques. Our highly specialized team of board-certified interventional radiologists, nurses, and technologists delivers patient-centered care across a wide spectrum of conditions, including neuro and vascular disease, oncology, trauma, and complex organ disorders. At OU Medical Center, the Interventional Radiology Department is committed to clinical excellence, continuous innovation, and compassionate care, supporting both inpatient and outpatient populations while advancing the field through education, research, and quality improvement initiatives. The Interventional Technologist I assists Physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose, monitor and treat simple to complex conditions, defects and/or diseases without surgery. This position is intended for those who are gaining experience in Interventional Radiology or Invasive Cardiology or are experienced Imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in the discipline. Essential Responsibilities Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities, with or without an accommodation, may result in disqualification from the position. Assists Providers in performing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures including but not limited to cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, angiography, device implantation, biopsies, thrombectomy, embolization and pain management. Utilizes a variety of highly specialized radiologic equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic, interventional and/or invasive procedures in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines. Ensures procedures are performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient‑centric care. Assists in preparing patients for procedures and providing comfort. Acts as a scrub tech while assisting Providers during procedures Maintains a strict sterile field adhering to safety protocols. Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, provides clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines. Collaborates with team members across OU Health including Providers to provide exceptional patient care. Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented and align with departmental and accreditation standards. Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings and prepares study for reporting by physician. Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines. Assists with quality assurance, audits and performance improvement tasks as requested. Provides on-call clinical coverage outside regularly scheduled duty hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays as assigned. May support OU Health's academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program. May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members. Assists with onboarding of new team members. General Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications : Tech I Minimum Qualifications: Education: A graduate of post-secondary educational program in a health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, or paramedic/EMT) as defined by ARRT or CCI. Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements. Experience: No experience required. License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. ARRT(RT), RCES or RCIS certification required within 18 months of hire. Minimum Qualifications : Tech II Minimum Qualifications Education: Associate's Degree required. Experience: At least 3 years of experience in interventional radiography or invasive cardiology required License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. One of the following certifications required at hire: ARRT(RT)(VI), ARRT(RT)(CI), RCES issued by CCI or RCIS issued by CCI Minimum Qualifications : Tech III Minimum Qualifications: Education: Associate's Degree required. Experience: At least 5 years of experience in interventional radiography or invasive cardiology required. License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. One of the following certifications required at hire: ARRT(RT)(VI), ARRT(RT)(CI), RCES issued by CCI or RCIS issued by CCI Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrates knowledge and skill in applying principles of medical imaging, positioning of patients and medical ethics. Applies core knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology associated with specialty imaging procedures Demonstrates ability and skill to apply theory, practices and techniques to perform, post-process, analyze and annotate study data or procedure documentation. Applies knowledge of sterile fields consistently ensuring a safe environment for the patient Strong verbal and written communication skills Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and patient populations served Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards. Ability to prioritize and complete clinical or non-clinical work assignments Ability to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations Ability to work as part of a diverse team and communicate effectively with others. Displays consistency and dependability by reporting to work as scheduled. Ability to be sensitive to patients’ physical and psychological needs.
