Lead AI Engineer

About the Role

This is a senior individual contributor role on a small, fast-moving team building an AI-powered contract intelligence platform for enterprise customers. You will have significant ownership over both product direction and technical strategy, working closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to ship production-grade AI systems.

What You'll Do

• Architect, develop, and own user-facing application features spanning back-end and front-end systems.

• Design and build intelligent, full-stack solutions that integrate AI/ML capabilities into the product.

• Promote sound engineering practices and drive technical strategy and roadmaps.

• Define and implement measurements of success for the engineering team.

• Initiate and lead technical projects end-to-end with direct ownership of shipped systems.

What We're Looking For

• 4 or more years of experience in AI/ML engineering or building AI products, with at least 8 years of total software engineering experience appropriate for a lead-level scope.

• Proficiency in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience using PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.

• Experience building AI applications and agents using frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or AutoGen.

• Hands-on experience with OpenAI or Anthropic models; model training and LLM monitoring experience are a plus.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).

• Cloud platform exposure across AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Experience with JavaScript, React, or comparable modern web frameworks.

• Strong computer science fundamentals, ideally backed by a CS degree.

• SaaS startup experience and a track record of owning shipped systems on small teams.

• Breadth across AI/ML engineering rather than deep specialization in a single narrow subfield.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $175,000 to $250,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

Location

On-site in New York, NY, five days per week. Candidates should be NYC-based or genuinely willing to relocate.
