Project Overview: Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas. Job Summary: The Lead Contract Administrator is responsible for the commercial administration and management of the Deep Excavation subcontract package for the Poland AP1000 Project. Working under the direction of the Contract Manager, the role administers subcontract obligations, manages change and commercial performance, and supports the successful execution of a critical construction package in accordance with project objectives and contractual requirements. The position works closely with Construction, Engineering, Project Controls, Legal, and Supply Chain stakeholders to proactively manage subcontract performance, mitigate commercial risk, and ensure compliance with Bechtel policies, project procedures, and governance requirements. The role exercises independent judgement on complex contractual and commercial matters and contributes to the achievement of project safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives. Major Responsibilities: Administers all commercial and contractual aspects of the Deep Excavation subcontract package throughout execution and closeout. Manages subcontract changes, amendments, compensation events, claims, and notices in accordance with contract requirements and project procedures. Monitors subcontractor commercial performance, identifies risks and opportunities, and develops mitigation plans in collaboration with project stakeholders. Reviews and evaluates payment applications, forecasts, commitments, and commercial submissions to ensure accuracy and contractual compliance. Maintains accurate commercial records, correspondence, change registers, and reporting tools to provide visibility of subcontract status and commercial exposure. Coordinates with Construction, Engineering, Project Controls, Legal, Risk Management, and Procurement to support effective subcontract execution and issue resolution. Supports subcontract negotiations, settlements, and resolution of commercial matters with subcontractors. Ensures compliance with IWPP, Policy 230, project procedures, DSCS requirements, and applicable regulatory obligations. Supports preparation of commercial reports, claims assessments, management reviews, audits, and lessons learned activities. Provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced contract administration personnel as required. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelor's (or international equivalent) in Business, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Law, Supply Chain, or a related discipline and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience. Demonstrated experience administering complex subcontracts on EPC, infrastructure, nuclear, energy, or industrial projects. Experience managing subcontract changes, claims, commercial reporting, and stakeholder interfaces throughout project execution. Experience in regulated project environments and knowledge of the European market is preferred. Required Knowledge and Skills: Contract Administration and Subcontract Management Strong experience administering complex construction or engineering subcontracts, including change management, claims, payment administration, and contract closeout. Commercial and Change Management Ability to identify, evaluate, and mitigate contractual and commercial risks while managing subcontract changes and commercial exposure. Commercial Negotiation & Problem Solving Demonstrated capability to resolve commercial issues, support negotiations, and develop practical solutions to complex contractual matters. Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication Effective communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across Construction, Engineering, Project Controls, Legal, Procurement, and subcontractor organisations. Governance & Compliance Working knowledge of EPC contracting practices, IWPP, Policy 230, DSCS governance requirements, and project procedures applicable to subcontract execution and administration.
