Job Description Summary
Lead Product Definition Engineer acts as a Quality Circle Leader - Leading Contractor and GEV team members, distributing and reviewing their work and mentoring/coaching the team to improve their performance in terms of SQDC.They lead MMP(weekly planning)/DM (Daily Management) for their quality circle.
As a Project Lead they lead Complex project executions while applying SQDC.
Task execution: hard to very hard effort (NPI/NTI) tasks, improves
processes, creates new standard work and trains others, SQDC
prioritization mindset.
Collaborates seamlessly with adjacent function teams to align with
project scope and milestones
Has in-depth knowledge of GT Accessories system and how they
interface with each other
Has sound understanding of wing to wing processes of HDNU OTR
processes
Quality/Innovation/GBOM - Owns SDRs/NCRs, SDR/RFIs’ Peer
Review FPY
Applies lessons learned to continually improve standard work
Connects/relates teams priorities with priorities of adjacent work steam
and overall business
Guides/helps junior members in the team on tools (NX) and processes
Provides inputs during PSR/Kaizen and sometimes leads e.g. Lean Lines
Applies AI/Automations in day-to-day executions/ problem solving
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Create definitions of parts, modules, and assemblies in the form of 2D cross sections, 3D models, tolerance stack-ups, and various electronic data formats to support analysis, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and inspection
Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Production engineering or equivalent with 6+ years of experience in Gas / Steam Turbine accessories product definition or in similar domain experience.
Leads execution of PDE scope for Gas, Steam and Generator Accessories to deliver 3D piping designs and skids arrangement drawings, Bills of materials with immaculate quality and adhering to timelines
Understanding and implementing Model Based Product Definition initiatives
CAD expertise with NX(Unigraphics)
PLM expertise with ENOVIA or Teamcenter
Should possess knowledge of piping support detailing and welding.
Desired Characteristics
Ability to interpret Schematics/P&ID.
Ensure all interface and interference characteristics between components are established and agreed upon by the designers of interfacing system
Proactively and effectively communicate progress, status, risk, needed inputs and target release dates to stakeholders.
Participate in Daily Management meetings to plan for four-week look ahead and work with prioritization
Follow Daily management rigor within the team to ensure timely delivery of tasks
Apply Lean principles in daily management and strive for continuous improvement
Ensure quality of PDE deliverables by following self-check and peer check rigor.
Utilize applicable PLM system (Enovia) to manage and issue product definition data.
Follow concurrent Engineering processes, understand input from the different engineering disciplines, monitor progress and quality, and ensure schedule requirements are met.
Effectively communicate and provide recommendations to internal and external GE customers through analysis, preparation and presentation of technical PDE data.
Provide design support to cross-functional teams to improve or resolve design, performance, manufacturing, supplier, or field issues..
Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Procedures, Engineering Standards, Design Customer Operating Procedures, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security requirements.
Contribute to fulfilling organizational KPIs and Initiatives
Demonstrated ability in managing several projects across functions (New Product Introduction, New Units, Services, Cost Out, etc.), ensuring On-time Delivery, with high quality and on-budget.
Strong team player with the ability to effectively work under pressure.
Focus on ownership, accountability and sense of urgency
Good understanding of Lean for Frontline Teams
Good communication to work successfully in a matrix organization
