Are you an experienced grower ready to take the lead in a busy production nursery? Do you enjoy managing teams, improving plant health and keeping large-scale growing operations running smoothly?

About Our Company

Anglo Aquatic Plant Company Ltd is a premier, award-winning family business with over 60 years of horticultural expertise. As a leading UK supplier, we grow and distribute more than 180 cold-water plant species and 300 varieties to garden centres, landscapers, and online retail markets nationwide. Known for our exceptional product quality and professional service, we offer a fantastic opportunity to join a growing, specialist team in a thriving niche market.

The Role

Anglo Aquatic is looking for a hands-on Lead Grower to join our 6-acre nursery.

This is a key leadership role, working closely with the Nursery Operations Manager to manage propagation, potting, plant health, irrigation and stock planning. You will help produce high volumes of quality plants for the current and upcoming seasons.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead propagation and potting teams, including daily briefings.
  • Manage plant health, seeding, watering, pruning, pest control and spraying.
  • Take ownership of potting operations, including machine setup and troubleshooting.
  • Oversee plugs, stock levels, supplies and production schedules.
  • Operate forklifts, telehandlers and other plant machinery where required.
  • Support safe, organised and efficient movement of stock around the site.
  • Set high standards for quality, cleanliness, safety and team performance.

The Person

You will need several years’ experience as a grower, supervisor or team leader within horticulture, agriculture or nursery production.

You will also need:

  • Qualification: A relevant horticultural qualification.
  • Licences: PA1/PA6 spraying licences.
  • Knowledge: Strong plant health and irrigation knowledge.
  • Skills: Good planning, stock control, and team management skills.
  • Physicality: Confidence working outdoors in a physical, hands-on role.
  • Machinery: Experience operating forklifts/telehandlers is highly desirable (willingness to complete training is essential).
  • Bonus: Aquatic plant experience would be helpful, but it is not essential.

The Benefits

  • Modern 6-acre site with 4 acres of greenhouses
  • Staff canteen, shower facilities and outdoor seating
  • Games and fitness room
  • Annual summer BBQ
  • Friendly, family-run working environment
  • Dog-friendly site
