Lead Instrumentation Engineer

This is an opportunity to take technical ownership of instrumentation, automation, telecommunication, and fire & gas engineering on complex offshore and HV substation projects. You will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, oversee detailed design activities, and play a key role in delivering reliable control and communication systems that support critical energy infrastructure projects in the Netherlands.

Vacancy Information

As a Lead Instrumentation Engineer, you will lead detailed instrumentation and telecommunication engineering activities from concept development through to detailed design and project execution. You will be responsible for guiding instrumentation engineers and designers, ensuring technical quality, consistency, and compliance across all project deliverables. Your expertise will be essential in the engineering of automation, control, telecommunication, and fire & gas systems for offshore platforms and HV substations.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading detailed instrumentation and telecommunication engineering activities on offshore and HV substation projects.
• Managing and mentoring teams of instrumentation engineers and designers throughout project execution.
• Developing instrumentation design deliverables including cable lists, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, termination diagrams, block diagrams, layouts, and installation details.
• Preparing technical specifications, requisitions, and Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE) for instrumentation, telecommunication, and fire & gas systems.
• Leading Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for SCADA/DCS systems, telecommunications systems, and fire & gas detection systems.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality engineering packages that meet project and client requirements.

What You Need

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' experience working for an engineering company.
• At least 4 years of experience as a Lead Instrumentation Engineer or in a similar leadership position.
• Proven experience leading teams of instrumentation engineers and designers on detailed engineering projects.
• Strong experience in greenfield automation and telecommunication detailed engineering.
• Experience with offshore platform design and HV substation projects
• Demonstrated expertise in SCADA/DCS systems, telecommunications systems (CCTV, PAGA, LAN, WiFi, Radio), and Fire & Gas detection systems
• Experience preparing technical specifications, TBEs, and leading FAT activities.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
