This is not a typical technician role. This is a plant-critical leadership position where you'll serve as the go-to expert for mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and operational performance —guiding teams and solving complex problems that directly impact production. If you're the person others call when equipment goes down or systems aren't performing, this role was built for you. What You'll Be Doing: You'll operate at the center of plant performance, including: Leading technical troubleshooting efforts to restore product flow and minimize downtime Providing hands-on guidance and mentorship to craft and maintenance teams Diagnosing and resolving issues across mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems Analyzing equipment and process data to identify improvements and prevent recurring failures Supporting continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, FMEA, RCM, SPC) Assisting with outage planning, repairs, and capital project execution Partnering cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams Acting as a technical authority across the production floor What Makes You a Strong Fit: We're looking for professionals who bring: 5+ years of mechanical systems experience in industrial environments (required) Strong expertise in hydraulics, blueprint reading, and mechanical tolerances Proven ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues in live production environments Experience working in manufacturing (metals, paper, heavy industry preferred) Ability to lead through influence and expertise—not just title Bonus if you have: Experience with rolling mill equipment or similar heavy machinery Background in failure analysis and continuous improvement methodologies Technical degree or apprenticeship Experience designing, fabricating, or installing mechanical equipment Why This Role Stands Out: Work in a highly advanced manufacturing environment with complex mechanical systems Be recognized as a technical leader and problem-solver across the plant Direct impact on uptime, safety, and operational performance Opportunity to grow into senior technical or engineering leadership roles Why Work With NWTS: Northwest Talent Solutions is not a traditional recruiting firm—we are a talent advisory partner .
