About the Role
Join the platform engineering team at an early-stage scientific data platform company. You will shape and scale the foundational infrastructure that brings varied laboratory data together into a reliable, queryable resource for scientists and AI systems.
What You'll Do
Own the architecture, implementation, security, and scaling of the core data and execution platform.
Build and operate production ingestion pipelines, APIs, microservices, and storage layers that structure complex scientific data while preserving its provenance.
Manage knowledge graph and vector search systems to support combined symbolic and semantic retrieval.
Develop high-concurrency platform services in Go and APIs in Python, with controlled agent write access and isolated execution environments.
Establish security boundaries, including service authentication, tenant isolation, secrets management, encryption, and zero-trust practices.
Own cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability, and set SLOs and reusable developer workflows.
Set engineering standards through architecture guidance, code reviews, mentorship, and support for growing the platform team.
What We're Looking For
Three to seven years of experience in platform or infrastructure engineering, with a track record building production backend infrastructure, data platforms, or distributed systems.
Strong experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, and modern CI/CD systems.
Experience designing ETL or ELT pipelines for complex, unstructured enterprise or scientific data.
Proficiency with Go or Python, and familiarity with FastAPI, TypeDB or TypeQL, Qdrant, GitHub Actions, OpenTelemetry, or Prometheus.
Experience designing production security controls and establishing architectural practices; biotech data, computational biology, or compliance experience is a plus.
Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship or transfer.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual salary range: $220,000 to $300,000 USD. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
On-site, five days per week in San Francisco, California, United States. Relocation assistance is available.
