About the Role
Join the platform engineering team at a data infrastructure and analytics company, where you will own the architecture and operation of a foundational platform for organizing scientific data. You will help build secure, scalable systems that support scientists and AI-powered workflows.
What You'll Do
Set the architectural direction, delivery plan, security posture, and scaling strategy for the data platform.
Build and maintain data ingestion pipelines, APIs, microservices, and storage layers that structure varied scientific inputs while preserving provenance.
Operate knowledge graphs with TypeDB and TypeQL, plus Qdrant vector search, for combined symbolic and semantic retrieval.
Develop high-concurrency services in Go and Python, including controlled agent write access and isolated execution environments.
Design service authentication, tenant isolation, secrets management, encryption, and other security controls.
Own Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD with GitHub Actions, and observability using OpenTelemetry and Prometheus.
Establish SLOs and engineering practices, review code, mentor engineers, and help grow the platform team.
Partner with company leadership on team design, candidate interviews, and platform engineering hiring.
What We're Looking For
3 to 7 years of experience in platform or infrastructure engineering, with dedicated infrastructure experience as well as software engineering.
A track record building and operating production backend infrastructure, data platforms, or distributed systems.
Strong proficiency with Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, and modern CI/CD systems.
Experience designing ETL or ELT pipelines for complex, unstructured enterprise or scientific data.
Experience with Go, Python, FastAPI, TypeDB, TypeQL, Qdrant, GitHub Actions, OpenTelemetry, and Prometheus is relevant.
Background in computational biology, biotech data systems, or compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary is $220,000 to $300,000 annually. Visa sponsorship or transfer is not available. Relocation assistance is available.
Location
This is a full-time, on-site role in San Francisco, California, United States, five days per week.
