About the Opportunity

As the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Health Sociology, you will deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with a particular focus on embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges and perspectives. Working collaboratively, you will contribute to teaching, research and partnerships that strengthen culturally responsive approaches to health and address health inequalities and inequities. In addition, you will:

• Embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges and perspectives across Sociology and Humanities and Social Sciences teaching.
• Contribute to teaching and curriculum development within nursing and allied health programs.
• Undertake high-quality research that contributes to the school’s research excellence and impact.
• Supervise research higher degree students and support their successful completion.
• Provide academic leadership and contribute to outstanding learning and teaching.
• Build productive relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, students, colleagues and community.
• Contribute to collaborative research, teaching and engagement across the University and with external partners.

What’s Required

For Level B (Lecturer)

• A PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant social science field.
• A demonstrated record of, and a continuing commitment to research in the field of health sociology.
• University-level teaching experience across online and face-to-face delivery.
• Experience building and maintaining productive relationships with the discipline, health professions, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and/or wider community.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage thoughtfully with students and staff from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within discipline-based and multidisciplinary teams.

For Level C (Senior Lecturer) (in addition to the above)

• A strong record in, and continuing commitment to, research that has made notable contributions to the field of health sociology.
• A record of research higher degree supervision and completions, relative to opportunity.
• Demonstrated achievement in University-level teaching and learning across different delivery modes.
• A record of contributing effectively to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, health professions, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, and/or wider community.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B or C and will have a remuneration package of up to $184,076, comprising of a base salary within the range of $114,766 to $157,330 plus 17% superannuation.
