Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Medical Surgical Unit (MSU)

Schwarzman Animal Medical Center seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team in our MSU (Medical Surgical Unit). Responsibilities: Provide exceptional and compassionate care to hospitalized patients Perform treatments for hospitalized patients including fluid and drug administration, wound care, and monitoring of vitals Identify and promptly communicate concerning changes in patient status Operate syringe pumps, fluid pumps, dopplers, blood pressure monitors, point of care lab equipment and SP02 monitors Maintain and stock inventory Ability to lift and restrain animals weighing up to 50 pounds Ability to establish and maintain effective, respectful working relationships with team members and coworkers across every department Must be able to work successfully both alone and as part of a team Must have ability to remain composed in stressful and emergency situations Flexibility and the ability to accommodate shift work in a hospital that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week Qualifications: Must have a New York State Veterinary Technician’s license or permit Must have animal handling experience and ability to lift and restrain animals weighing up to 50 pounds Must be able to work successfully as part of a team Must have ability to remain composed in stressful and emergency situations Must have flexibility necessary to work additional hours when workload requires Our comprehensive benefits package includes: Competitive salary Generous sign-on bonus Generous paid time off Tuition assistance 50% discount on veterinary care Mentorship through the VTS process Continuing education funds with rollover options NYS Licensing fee reimbursement Relocation reimbursement for qualified candidates who live outside the NYC metropolitan area 403b matching Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage You may be eligible for The Public Loan Service Forgiveness Program as we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit employer Shifts/Positions : Position 1: Sunday-Tuesday 8pm-8:30am Position 2: Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday 8pm-8:30am Position 3: Wednesday, Friday, Saturday 8pm-8:30am Position 4: Thursday-Saturday 8pm-8:30am Pay Range $30 — $40 USD Excellence in veterinary medicine since 1910.
