Job Description & Summary

PwC Ireland: bring your talent, grow your skills, unlock your potential!

We are looking for energetic, enthusiastic and dedicated people to join our team, help us to deliver our services, and build a rewarding career.

At PwC, your professional progress is our priority. The work you do will be as varied and interesting as the clients you will work with. You can expect to work with the biggest brands in Irish and international business, building strong relationships and getting the chance to work alongside the best. We will match your curiosity with continuous learning opportunities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Use feedback and reflection to develop self-awareness, personal strengths and address development areas.
  • Delegate to others to provide stretch opportunities, coaching them to deliver results.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to bring order to unstructured problems.
  • Use a broad range of tools and techniques to extract insights from current industry or sector trends.
  • Review your work and that of others for quality, accuracy and relevance.
  • Know how and when to use tools available for a given situation and can explain the reasons for this choice.
  • Seek and embrace opportunities which give exposure to different situations, environments and perspectives.
  • Use straightforward communication, in a structured way, when influencing and connecting with others.
  • Able to read situations and modify behaviour to build quality relationships.
  • Uphold the firm's code of ethics and business conduct.

We look to develop accomplished all-round consultants, not just technically strong actuaries.  This means exposure to a wide range of clients and project situations, including the opportunity to work with people from our network firms.  You will be able to build a strong professional profile both internally in PwC and externally in the insurance sector. You will be supported throughout your development with ample training and guidance from senior staff within the practice.

Experiences and skills

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and dedicated professional to join our team. We’re looking for the following experience and skills:
  • Qualified actuary with 3+ years of relevant experience in the life insurance or reinsurance market from either a consultancy or industry background. Solvency II and/or financial reporting experience are key. Experience of the Irish life (re)insurance market is an advantage.
  • An ability to build strong client relationships (internal or external) and an ability to communicate our analysis and insights to our clients in plain English.
  • An ability to develop and mentor junior staff, including technical training and performance management.
  • A desire to build out our propositions so that we meet a client need and develop a viable, commercial, professional service, offering in that space.
  • Strong IT (e.g. MS Excel and Word) and actuarial modelling skills - we base our advice on our analytical abilities.
  • Strong technical, problem identification, analytical and solutioning skills.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability for quality delivery within timescales.
  • Self-motivated, take responsibility for personal development in technical and broader consulting skills.

Enjoy PwC’s perks

We reward your impact and support your wellbeing through a competitive compensation package, inclusive employee benefits and flexibility programs that will help you thrive in work and life. Learn more about us at Life@PwC. Our focus is on flexible working that works for you, your clients and your team.

Unlock your potential with PwC Ireland

We believe that challenges are better solved together. We’re inspiring and empowering our people to change the world. Powered by the latest technology, you’ll be a part of amazing teams encouraged to collaborate and innovate in a way that creates powerful solutions and makes a positive impact. This purpose-led work, and our continuous development and encouragement, will help unlock your potential and take your career to the next level.

Being appreciated for being you

Our most valuable asset is our people, and we recognise you for it, ensuring you feel like you belong and that you are valued and rewarded for the great work you do every day. PwC is an equal opportunities employer and creating a diverse workforce that is representative of the communities we serve is hugely important to us. We believe this so much that we have signed up for the Business in the Community Inclusive Workplace Elevate Pledge.

Our Inclusion First strategy puts inclusion at the heart of our culture - supporting an environment where individuality is embraced, diversity is celebrated, and inclusion is valued. Check out our culture of belonging and explore our range of inclusive programmes, initiatives, employee resource groups and more at www.pwc.ie/about.html.

Avoid the confidence gap: you do not have to match all the listed requirements exactly to apply, we’d love to hear from you!

We will ensure that everyone is supported throughout and, if required, provided with reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please email us for more information.
