Project Overview: Bechtel has been involved over the last 80 years in some of the world’s busiest and most complex airport projects, including Greenfield and Brownfield developments. In the GCC, we have held significant roles on King Khalid, King Fahad, Dubai, Hamad, and Muscat international airports Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company has been appointed to provide project management consultancy services (including technical, commercial, and construction management) for the development of a state of the art international airport in the city of Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. King Salman International Airport will have a capacity of up to 120 million travellers by 2030 and 185 million travellers by 2050, and the capacity to process up to 3.5 million tons of cargo by 2050. Bechtel will provide PMC services for three new terminals; Terminal 6 is a new build ‘low cost carrier’ – hyper efficient terminal with gross floor area of ≈450,000m2, capacity of 20mppa; Iconic Terminal is a new build ‘new concept’ terminal with gross floor area of ≈ 1M m2, capacity of 40 to 45 mppa, and Private Aviation Terminal and hangars for VIPs and business jet passengers. Job Summary: The Logistics Construction Manager – Airside, is responsible for leading the planning and execution of logistics operations across the airside areas of a new airport development. This includes runways, taxiways, aprons, and associated infrastructure under construction. The role ensures the efficient, safe, and timely movement of materials, equipment, and workforce across the airside work zones, supporting multiple contractors and construction packages in a large-scale, multi-phase environment. This position is central to coordinating logistics that directly impact the critical path for airport commissioning and operational readiness. Major Responsibilities: Enable on-schedule construction progress across all airside work zones by ensuring coordinated logistics support for all major activities. Maintain high operational efficiency and safety standards during heavy civil and airfield infrastructure works. Prevent congestion and delays through proactive management of equipment access and material deliveries. Maintain uninterrupted internal access and mobility across airside areas during peak construction phases. Provide weekly/monthly reporting dashboards that track key logistics KPIs and support schedule compliance. Build a collaborative logistics culture across airside teams, supporting safety, transparency, and delivery-focused performance. Support commissioning and ORAT planning by aligning logistics strategy with final phase airside activation requirements. Develop and implement the airside logistics strategy in coordination with construction sequencing and project milestones. Manage all airside logistics activities, including: Access planning for construction of runways, taxiways, aprons, and airfield lighting systems Movement of heavy construction equipment across expansive and controlled zones Temporary roads, haul routes, and staging areas within the airfield footprint Coordination of internal traffic management plans across airside packages Work closely with construction managers, contractors, and civil/airfield engineers to ensure logistics align with field operations and construction sequencing. Establish clear logistics protocols for material delivery, equipment staging, and workforce access across large open zones and remote areas of the site. Oversee the establishment and maintenance of temporary infrastructure (e.g., laydown areas, lighting, signage, fencing, dust control). Manage logistics operations across multiple active work zones to reduce interference and avoid bottlenecks during peak construction activity. Monitor logistics compliance with safety, environmental, and security requirements relevant to the construction phase. Maintain accurate records of equipment movement, deliveries, site access, and logistics performance metrics. Supervise a team of logistics coordinators, subcontractors, and third-party logistics providers operating in the airside zone. Provide regular logistics reporting, forecasts, and risk assessments to the construction leadership and project stakeholders. Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Logistics, or a related field. 10+ years of experience in construction logistics, including 5+ years in a leadership role on large-scale infrastructure or airport projects. Direct experience managing logistics for civil/airfield construction including runways, taxiways, utilities, or large earthworks. Required Knowledge and Skills: Experience working within or adjacent to active airport environments strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead complex logistics operations involving multiple contractors, vendors, and jurisdictional authorities. Familiarity with airport security protocols, vehicle screening processes, and traffic planning. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Proficiency in logistics planning tools, scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6), and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong understanding of relevant safety, environmental, and DOT regulations.
