The Opportunity
Peabody is seeking experienced
Longwall Operators and
Shearer Operators to join our foundation longwall crews at Centurion Mine, located approximately 160 kilometres west of Mackay.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of one of Australia's newest longwall operations, working with state-of-the-art equipment and contributing to the successful commencement and ongoing performance of Centurion's longwall mining operation.
These permanent positions provide the opportunity to join a world-class operation that is focused on safety, innovation, operational excellence and long-term career development.
Your Impact
- Operate longwall and associated mining equipment in accordance with mine plans and site standards.
- Perform longwall production activities including shearer operations, shield movement, face inspections and tailgate operations.
- Conduct pre-start inspections, personal risk assessments and hazard identification activities.
- Support the safe and efficient delivery of production targets.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety and operational performance.
- Work collaboratively within high-performing production crews.
- Maintain compliance with site procedures, safety requirements and statutory obligations.
- Promote a strong safety culture through proactive risk management and hazard awareness.

About You
You are a safety-focused underground coal miner who takes pride in delivering strong operational performance while contributing positively to team culture and site outcomes.
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have
- Experience in underground longwall mining operations.
- Demonstrated capability operating longwall equipment including shearers, roof supports, AFCs and BSLs.
- Current longwall operating competencies highly regarded.
- Commitment to maintaining and promoting a safe workplace.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexible and proactive approach to work.
- Underground equipment tickets including Bolter, Shuttle Car, Loader or Drift Runner advantageous.
- Commitment to Safety, Integrity, Operational Excellence and Courageous Leadership.
