Position Overview

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician II to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a natural gas compressor station in Stony Point, NY.

The facility operates five turbines used to move natural gas to the next compressor station and supports approximately 100 acres of surrounding infrastructure and nearly 50 miles of pipeline extending in multiple directions.

This is a hands-on mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting position with a combination of field and office responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience with rotating equipment, and the ability to independently troubleshoot equipment issues and respond to operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment at a natural gas compressor station.
• Maintain and troubleshoot compressors, turbines, engines, valves, rotating equipment, and related mechanical systems.
• Respond to equipment outages, alarms, and units going offline; investigate issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems, perform resets when appropriate, and identify the next steps required to restore equipment to service.
• Maintain compressors that provide air to operating equipment and support other compressor station mechanical systems.
• Support maintenance and troubleshooting of natural gas valves, turbines, engines, and associated equipment.
• Work with multiple subcontractors performing maintenance and repair activities at the facility.
• Coordinate with schedulers and planners who provide maintenance schedules and work plans approximately three months in advance.
• Complete work orders, maintenance documentation, and required records accurately and on time.
• Coordinate maintenance activities and timelines with internal teams, contractors, planners, and schedulers.
• Participate in an on-call rotation of approximately one week per month to support equipment issues and operational needs.
• Respond to calls during regular hours or overnight to troubleshoot equipment outages, alarms, and other operational issues.
• Support smaller in-house maintenance and improvement projects during periods of lower scheduled workload.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment while following applicable safety procedures and maintenance standards.
• Provide support to other nearby facilities, as needed, generally within a 50–75-mile service area.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of direct maintenance experience required.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on experience working with rotating equipment, such as engines, compressors, turbines, or similar machinery.
• Ability to independently diagnose mechanical issues and remain calm while responding to equipment failures or operational interruptions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with subcontractors, planners, schedulers, and internal maintenance teams.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to take ownership of assigned work.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to maintenance issues outside of normal working hours when scheduled.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in the natural gas, pipeline, compressor station, or energy industry.
• Experience working with Caterpillar compressors.
• Experience with Morse 100 engines.
• Experience with T60 turbines.
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining natural gas compression equipment and related mechanical systems.
• Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to take initiative in the field.
• Experience coordinating or working alongside maintenance contractors.
